Toilolo (Achilles) was placed on the Giants' injured reserve Monday, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Toilolo suffered a torn Achilles tendon at practice last week, so this move was only a matter of time. The 30-year-old will now focus on his recovery and set his sights on the 2022 season.

Toilolo sustained a torn Achilles tendon during Wednesday's practice, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Toilolo was working off to the side at Wednesday's practice and was carted off the field after suffering the injury. The 30-year-old will miss the rest of the season, and it should only be a matter of time before he shifts to injured reserve.

Giants' Levine Toilolo: Restructuring contract
Toilolo has agreed to restructure his contract with the Giants in order to remain with the team in 2021, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Toilolo was primed to make roughly $3 million in the coming campaign, a figure which likely would have made him a cap casualty, but he'll instead restructure the final year of his deal in order to stick with New York. He played a depth role last season and only was targeted six times despite playing all 16 games.

Toilolo secured five of six targets for 46 yards in 16 games with the Giants in 2020.
Toilolo played 275 offensive snaps in 2020, but he was rarely utilized in the receiving game. The 29-year-old remains under contract with the Giants in 2021, so he stands to return in a similar depth role that won't provide much (if any) fantasy value.

Toilolo is signing with the Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Toilolo figures to take on the blocking role previously occupied by Rhett Ellison, who announced his retirement from football last week. Toilolo will turn 29 in July, coming off a 2019 campaign with the 49ers in which he caught two passes on 191 offensive snaps. He has 97 receptions in 108 career regular-season games.

Toilolo had two receptions for 10 yards over 13 games this season.
Toilolo only saw two targets despite playing 194 offensive snaps. Coach Kyle Shanahan preferred to use the tight end's 6-foot-8, 268 pound frame as a blocker in the 49ers' zone-run scheme. Toilolo's fantasy value only comes as a red-zone target in scenarios where he is higher on the depth chart. The 28-year-old is an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him back in San Francisco's camp given his familiarity with Shanahan's offense both this year and their time together in Atlanta.
