Mike Person: Calls it a career

Person, who started 14 regular-season games at right guard for the 49ers last season, now opts to hang up his cleats just three months after having been released by the team. The 32-year-old also spent time with the Rams, Falcons, Seahawks and Colts across his nine-year career.

Mike Person: Cut loose by Niners
The 49ers informed Person of his release Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Person made 30 starts at right guard the past two seasons, with PFF grading him at No. 34 (63.2) among 80 qualified guards in 2019. Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com suggests Daniel Brunskill could take over the starting right guard job, though the 49ers also figure to evaluate options in free agency and the draft.

Person was sporting a walking boot following a joint practice with the Broncos in mid-August, but he was able to make a relatively quick return and played 23 snaps Saturday. The 31-year-old is penciled as the starter at right guard after re-signing with San Francisco in March.

San Francisco's starting right guard from 2018 was set to become a free agent, but instead the team was able to come to terms with the 2011 seventh-round draft pick to keep him. The deal will run for three years and will be worth $9 million with $3 million guaranteed.
