Jets' Travis Swanson: Inks deal with Jets
Swanson signed a contract with the Jets on Tuesday, Paul Schwartz of the New York Post reports.
Swanson, a former third-round selection of the Lions, spent his first four seasons in Detroit, starting 42 of 53 games during the stint. However, he missed the final six games of last season due to a concussion -- an injury the center now disputes, claiming he instead had a bad reaction to the medicine he received for the injury. The Jets also brought in former Redskins center Spencer Long (quadriceps), who figures to start the season atop the depth chart. However, Long is returning from a torn quadriceps injury last season, which could give Swanson an opportunity to take over starting duties should Long be sidelined heading into training camp.

Lions' Travis Swanson: Misdiagnosed with concussion
Swanson, who ended the 2017 season on injured reserve, claims he did not suffer a concussion, CBS Detroit reports.
Swanson claims he didn't actually suffer a concussion but had a bad reaction to medicine he was given to treat a potential concussion. When he stopped taking the medicine, Swanson said he no longer experienced any concussion-like symptoms. Considering he also suffered a concussion in 2016 and is set to become an unrestricted free agent, it's evident he wants teams to know he doesn't have a history of serious head injuries -- something that could hamper his ability to land a new deal.

Swanson was thought to have been close to clearing concussion protocol after logging a full practice Wednesday, but his total lack of availability Thursday seemingly nullifies that notion. The Lions have a longer week after playing Saturday against the Bears, but Swanson's status still looks to be in doubt for Sunday in Cincinnati.
