Jamie Collins: Hangs up cleats
Collins announced his retirement from the NFL on Friday, Daniel Chavkin of SI.com reports.
"It hasn't hit me yet, but I'm officially retired," Collins said in announcing his retirement. The 33-year-old played 10 seasons in the league, tallying a career-best 115 tackles in 2014 for the Patriots and peaking with seven sacks in 2019 in his return to New England. Collins also made one All-Pro team and one Pro Bowl, both in 2015. He spent most of last year on the Patriots' practice squad.

Jamie Collins: Heads back to practice squad
Collins reverted back to the Patriots' practice squad Tuesday.
Collins was elevated to New England's active roster prior to Monday night's matchup against the Bears, where he eventually failed to record any stats despite logging 22 defensive snaps and five special teams reps in the contest. The 33-year-old has suited up for a combined 13 games over the past three NFL seasons, and he'll now return to the team's practice squad as an emergency depth option.

Jamie Collins: Officially joins practice squad
Collins signed with the Patriots' practice squad Monday, Evan Lazar of the team's official site reports.
It was previously unclear what type of contract Collins inked with New England, though he's now set to join the team's practice squad after fellow linebacker Harvey Langi was released Monday. The 32-year-old has yet to play in 2022, though his experience from four previous stints with the Patriots should make him a prime candidate for gameday elevations moving forward this season.

Jamie Collins: Returns to Patriots
Collins was signed by the Patriots on Monday, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports.
It's unclear whether Collins will report to the practice or the active roster, but the linebacker is returning for a fourth stint with the Patriots. Collins appeared in 10 games with New England last year, registering 20 tackles, including a sack, while also intercepting a pass and deflecting three others.
