  • Patriots' Joey Iosefa: Brought back by Pats after being waived

    The Patriots have re-signed Iosefa.

Iosefa had been waived when the Patriots needed to make some roster room for thier draft picks and undrafted free agents, but he's back with the team now, where his RB/FB versatility is an assert in terms of providing backfield depth.

  • Joey Iosefa: Released by Patriots

    The Patriots have released Iosefa.

After leading the team in carries in Week 15, Iosefa saw limited snaps Sunday against the Jets, with Steven Jackson having joined the team's backfield mix. Iosefa's RB/FB versatility could result in him being claimed on waivers, but if that doesn't happen, he could well resurface on the Patriots' practice squad.

  • Patriots' Joey Iosefa: Records just one carry in Week 16

Iosefa was on the field for three of the Patriots' 56 snaps on offense in Sunday's 26-20 overtime loss to the Jets, ESPN's Mike Reiss reports. In the process, he carried just once for zero yards.

All three of Iosefa's snaps Sunday were as a fullback, a product of the addition of Steven Jackson to the team's backfield mix. At this stage, Iosefa's RB/FB versatility is more valuable to the Patriots than to fantasy owners, though if the injury bug hits the team again, Iosefa could could potentially resurface on the fantasy radar in the postseason.

  • Patriots' Joey Iosefa: Jackson joins Pats' backfield

Steven Jackson has officially joined a New England backfield that also includes Iosefa, James White and Brandon Bolden.

In his debut with the Patriots in Week 15, Iosefa carried 14 times for 51 yards, both team-highs, in a 33-16 win over the Titans. The addition of Jackson to the mix, however, gives the Patriots another big-bodied option at running back, which makes Iosefa's workload in Sunday's game against the Jets difficult to predict. As a result, he's a speculative play in Week 16 fantasy lineups.

  • Patriots' Joey Iosefa: Leads Pats in rushing

Iosefa rushed 14 times for 51 yards, both team-highs, during Sunday's win over the Titans.

After being promoted from the practice squad Saturday, Iosefa played a major role in the backfield, outproducing Brandon Bolden, who rushed 10 times for 36 yards. James White continued to do his damage in the passing game, catching seven passes for 71 yards and a touchdown, and it's entirely possible the Patriots use both Iosefa and Bolden on early downs for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, they've got a touch matchup in Week 16 against the Jets, who are allowing the fewest rushing yards per game and have given up the fewest rushing touchdowns this season.

  • Patriots' Joey Iosefa: Signed by New England

Iosefa signed with New England on Saturday, NESN.com reports.

Iosefa is a RB/FB tweener who profiles more as a short-yardage and blocking option than a consistent ballcarrier. He should give New England some playcalling flexibility at least.
