49ers' Chris Conley: Logs first reception in 2024
Conley brought in his lone target for four yards in Sunday's 23-17 loss to the Vikings.
Conley could have served as San Francisco's slot receiver had Jauan Jennings (ankle) been unable to suit up, which would have given the veteran backup some deep-league appeal. With Jennings receiving clearance to play late in the week, Conley reverted to his usual role as No. 4 wideout and special teams contributor on 22 snaps played (nine on offense). The same should be expected from the 32-year-old when the 49ers visit the Rams on Sunday.

49ers' Chris Conley: No receptions in No. 4 role
Conley logged 29 snaps on offense (40 percent) but did not receive a target in Monday's 32-19 win over the Jets.
The veteran wideout made the 49ers' Week 1 roster but is stuck behind the unquestioned starting trio of Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings (ankle). Conley was also on the field for 16 snaps on special teams. He could become a deep-league option for a Week 2 matchup against Minnesota should Jennings miss that contest due to a minor ankle injury sustained in Monday's win over New York.

49ers' Chris Conley: Returns to San Francisco
The 49ers re-signed Conley on a one-year deal Saturday.
The veteran wideout will remain in San Francisco after spending last season with the 49ers. Conley saw minimal offensive work in 2023, playing just 110 offensive snaps and recording 69 receiving yards on three receptions. Given that he appeared in only eight games last year, Conley will likely be competing for another depth role in San Francisco's wide receiver room as the offseason progresses.

Conley spent most of the season on the 49ers' practice squad, sporadically appearing in games for a handful of snaps when needed. At 31 years old, Conley doesn't offer a ton of upside as an impending unrestricted free agent nor as a fantasy asset in 2024.

49ers' Chris Conley: Joins active roster
The 49ers signed Conley to their active roster Saturday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
The 31-year-old wideout is in line to appear in his fourth game of the year Sunday after signing with San Francisco's active roster Saturday. Conley has played 28 total snaps (19 offensive and nine on special teams) over his three appearances this season, and he'll likely serve as a depth piece in the 49ers' wide receiver room in Week 14.

Conley saw action for the third time this season versus the Eagles on Sunday with Ray-Ray McCloud out with a rib injury. The 31-year-old failed to record any stats in all three of his appearances and will now have to be signed to the active roster if he's to suit up for the 49ers again this season.
