Goodson was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday.
Goodson either tested positive for the virus or came into close contact with an infected person. The 27-year-old has racked up a career-high 91 tackles through 14 games as the team's starting middle linebacker. Tae Davis appears set to start in Goodson's place this week.

Goodson's second interception of the season stopped the Bengals in the red zone on the game's opening drive when Cincinnati got as far as the Browns' 2-yard line. The seven tackles gives him 52 for the season, within nine of the career-high 61 stops he recorded in 2018. Despite the positive contributions, however, Goodson graded out at replacement level (46.1), according to Pro Football Focus' metrics, Scott Patsko of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Browns' B.J. Goodson: Notches double-digit tackles
Goodson posted 10 tackles and a half-sack in Sunday's 38-7 loss to the Steelers.
Goodson logged 57 of 65 defensive snaps (88 percent) en route to a team high in tackles. This was Goodson's first double-digit tackling effort of the season, and he's now up to 46 stops through six games. The fifth-year linebacker should comfortably hit 100 tackles for the first time in his career as long as he stays healthy since there's no true competition for his starting job at this time.

Browns' B.J. Goodson: Stacks up nine tackles
Goodson made nine tackles (three solo) in Sunday's 32-23 win over the Colts.
Goodson has yet to hit double-digit tackles in a game this year, but he leads the team with 36 total stops and is on pace to surpass the 100-tackle threshold for the first time in his career. It's a bit concerning that he doesn't play every snap like Joe Schobert used to do in Cleveland, but as long as Goodson is the starting middle linebacker, he'll be a viable IDP option.

Browns' B.J. Goodson: Tackle leader Week 1
Goodson led the Browns with nine tackles and played 49 snaps (83 percent) in Sunday's 38-6 loss to the Ravens in Week 1.
There was roster churn at linebacker during the offseason and Mack Wilson's knee injury created more uncertainty. Those developments led to Goodson moving into a prominent role as the team's starter at middle linebacker. His previous career high in tackles was 61 in 15 games with the Giants in 2018, and Goodson could blow that away with a full season as a starter in 2020.

Browns' B.J. Goodson: Full speed ahead
Goodson (personal) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Goodson was away from the team for personal reasons, but it appears he'll be ready for Sunday's game versus the Ravens. Although he missed a good chunk of training camp, if Goodson practices all week, his snap count shouldn't be affected much. The 27-year-old is lined up as the team's starting middle linebacker to start the season, so he's an intriguing IDP play after recording 37 tackles on 257 defensive snaps with the Packers last year.

Browns' B.J. Goodson: Away from team
Goodson (personal) didn't participate in Sunday's practice, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Goodson has high IDP upside as the favorite to start at middle linebacker for the Browns, as Joe Schobert -- now with the Jaguars -- posted 133 tackles in the position last season. There's no reason to think Goodson won't be ready for Week 1, but it's worth tracking his progress.

Goodson should at least temporarily slide into a starting role at middle linebacker for the Browns, who lost Joe Schobert and Christian Kirksey via free agency earlier this week. The 26-year-old notched 37 tackles (23 solo) across 15 regular-season games with the Packers in 2019.

Goodson and Martinez will both be unrestricted free agents in March.

Goodson (neck) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Lions.
It's unclear how Goodson picked up the knock, however, he left the game in the third quarter. As long as the Clemson product is sidelined, Oren Burks and Ty Summers appear to be in line to see an increase in inside linebacker reps.
