Ty Montgomery: Cut loose by New England
The Patriots waived Montgomery on Friday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Montgomery was cut loose after he played just six of the team's 57 snaps on offense while recording one reception for 17 yards on two targets in Thursday's 21-18 win over the Steelers. The Patriots are now left with JaMycal Hasty and practice squad member Kevin Harris as depth options in the backfield behind Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) and Ezekiel Elliott.

Patriots' Ty Montgomery: One catch in Week 14
Montgomery was on the field for six of a possible 57 snaps on offense in Thursday's 21-18 win over the Steelers, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
With Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) sidelined Thursday, Montgomery served as Ezekiel Elliott's top backup, while Kevin Harris didn't log any snaps. In that role, Montgomery was limited to one catch on two targets for 17 yards, so even if Stevenson continues to miss time, Montgomery will remain off the fantasy radar as long as Elliott is available. The Patriots' next game is Dec. 17 against the Chiefs.

Patriots' Ty Montgomery: May see increased workload
Montgomery may be asked to play a larger role in the Patriots' offense Thursday night versus Pittsburgh, Evan Lazar of the team's official website reports.
Montgomery could see an increased workload against the Steelers with Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) officially ruled out for Week 14. This season, Montgomery has turned three carries into nine yards while appearing in all 12 of the team's contests to this point, and he'll be operating behind Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield so his fantasy value will remain limited.

Patriots' Ty Montgomery: Mixes in on offense
Montgomery played three of the Patriots' 64 snaps on offense and carried once for two yards in Sunday's 6-0 loss to the Chargers.
With Rhamondre Stevenson exiting Sunday's game early with an ankle injury that's expected to keep him sidelined for multiple weeks, Montgomery resurfaced in the Patriots' backfield mix. He still lagged far behind Ezekiel Elliott in terms of both snaps and touches, but Montgomery at least had the opportunity to pick up his first carry since Week 5. The Patriots have kept Montgomery active for all 12 of their games to date mostly for his contributions on special teams, but he could end up settling in as the primary change-of-pace option behind Elliott while Stevenson is sidelined.

Patriots' Ty Montgomery: No longer hindered by illness
Montgomery (illness) was a full participant at practice Thursday.
Montgomery practiced in full Thursday after missing Wednesday's session entirely, signaling he probably won't miss any game action due to the illness he's dealing with. As long as Rhamondre Stevenson and Ezekiel Elliott (thigh) are available in Week 13, Montgomery isn't likely to check in for more than a couple snaps versus the Chargers.

Patriots' Ty Montgomery: Misses practice Wednesday
Montgomery (illness) was a nonparticipant at the Patriots' practice Wednesday.
Montgomery is dealing with an illness to open the week and he was unable to go for New England's first practice session ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Chargers. The 30-year-old will have two more sessions to return to the field before the final injury report Friday.

Patriots' Ty Montgomery: Good to go Sunday
Montgomery (knee) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Zach Cox of New England Sports Network reports.
The 30-year-old running back dealt with knee and personal issues throughout the week, but it seems as if he was able to move past those setbacks, as he was a full participant in Friday's practice. Through seven games, Montgomery has recorded 127 return yards as the Patriots' primary kick returner.
