Trevone Boykin: Receives one-game ban
Boykin was handed a one-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, stemming from being charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, Liz Matthews of USA Today reports.
The Seahawks cut Boykin shortly after he was accused of domestic violence by his girlfriend in late March, and he was then charged the next day. The 24-year-old has remained unsigned since and has had a handful of run-ins with the law over the last few years, going back to his final collegiate season at TCU.

Trevone Boykin: Receives charge of aggravated assault
Boykin was booked Wednesday into the Mansfield, Texas jail on a charge of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, Lauren Zakalik of WFAA-TV Channel 8 Dallas reports.
The Seahawks cut Boykin loose Tuesday once allegations arose of domestic violence against his girlfriend. He passed through waivers unclaimed, an unsurprising development while the legal process plays itself out. Hurting his cause for employment are multiple brushes with the law. In addition to the current accusation, Boykin pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor assault charge for a Jan. 1, 2016 incident involving a police officer and faced charges -- which were later dropped -- of marijuana possession and public intoxication following a March 2017 matter in which he was a passenger in a vehicle that backed into a number of pedestrians. As it pertains to the NFL, the series of events are a good bet to violate the personal conduct policy and result in a suspension.

Trevone Boykin: Cut by Seahawks
The Seahawks released Boykin on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Amid allegations of domestic violence against his girlfriend, Boykin was jettisoned from Seattle's roster. The quarterback has been unable to avoid legal trouble since the days preceding his final collegiate game with TCU. First, he was arrested on Jan. 1, 2016 for throwing an alleged punch at a police officer in San Antonio, for which he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor assault charge. Later, in March of 2017, he was a passenger in a car that backed into several people outside a bar in Dallas. Charges of marijuana possession and public intoxication for the latter incident were dismissed in February, but Boykin remained as Russell Wilson's backup until Tuesday's allegations came to light. No matter how the justice system plays itself out on this occasion, Boykin will almost certainly be subject to the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Seahawks' Trevone Boykin: Charges dropped for 2017 arrest
Charges against Boykin stemming from his March 2017 arrest in Dallas were dismissed earlier this month, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Dallas County court records stated that Boykin, who was arrested for marijuana possession and public intoxication following an incident where he was a passenger in a car that struck multiple people on a sidewalk, "completed all conditions" necessary for his case to be dismissed. With the 24-year-old's legal situation now resolved, he can turn his attention toward competing for the top backup gig behind starting quarterback Russell Wilson after spending all of the 2017 season on Seattle's practice squad.

Seahawks' Trevone Boykin: Inks reserve/future deal
Boykin signed a reserve/future deal with the Seahwawks on Tuesday.
Boykin backed up Russell Wilson for five games in 2016, which is his only NFL experience to date. He spent the 2017 season on their practice squad. He will now look to earn a spot on the 53-man roster providing depth at quarterback in 2018.

Trevone Boykin: Waived by Seattle
Boykin was waived by the Seahawks on Saturday.
There had been some rumblings of Boykin losing out on the backup spot, but that wasn't made clear until after the team's decision to waive the 24-year-old. Boykin has had a troubling offseason, which may have factored into the team's decision to part ways, but credit Austin Davis for earning his keeps during the preseason. Boykin likely will draw interest from some other teams, so he could still see the field at some point this season, just not in a blue and green uniform.

Seahawks' Trevone Boykin: Could lose out on backup job
Boykin went 13-of-21 for 166 yards and a touchdown Thursday against the Raiders in the preseason finale, but he threw two interceptions that might end up costing him the backup job.
Boykin entered camp as the favorite for the backup role, but Austin Davis outplayed him in the last three preseason games -- including Thursday, when the latter led a 75-yard game-winning touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter. Boykin, who rushed four times for 42 yards Thursday, is a dual-threat quarterback who can dazzle at times, but Davis is the steady veteran who usually won't make risky throws. The team's decision could come down to how it views the backup role.

Seahawks' Trevone Boykin: Generates two touchdowns Sunday versus Chargers
Boykin completed 12 of 15 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 48-17 preseason win over the Chargers. He also totaled 31 yards and a touchdown in four carries.
Boykin punctuated a 77-yard touchdown drive with a touchdown pass to Kenny Lawler in the first quarter and capped off another with a four-yard scamper to paydirt just before the half. He ran the offense effectively in his preseason debut and should have plenty of chances to do so during the preseason as Russell Wilson is handled with care. That said, he doesn't currently project to make much of an impact during the regular season.
