Wilds was released by the Jaguars on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL.com reports.
Wilds was in line to take on a bigger role in the Jacksonville backfield when Corey Grant was forced out of Sunday's loss to the Chiefs with a foot injury. However, with the team electing to bring in veteran tailback Jamal Charles on Tuesday, Wilds has been let go in order to open up a roster spot.

Jaguars' Brandon Wilds: Could see increased role
Wilds rushed twice for six yards after Corey Grant exited Sunday's 30-14 loss to the Chiefs with a foot injury.
Grant is headed to injured reserve after suffering a Lisfranc injury, leaving Wilds and T.J. Yeldon as Jacksonville's only healthy running backs since Leonard Fournette continues to battle a hamstring injury. Yeldon dominated the playing time Sunday -- he was on the field for 93 percent of offensive snaps -- but Wilds could be in line for an increased role while Fournette remains sidelined. The Jaguars are likely to add another running back in the near future to bolster their depth at the position.

The carry came on Wilds' only snap of the afternoon. Leonard Fournette was again inactive due to his hamstring, leaving T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant to handle duties out of the backfield. Wilds won't see much involvement in the Jaguars offense barring further injury within the running back group.

Jaguars' Brandon Wilds: Avoids injury designation
Wilds (illness) will not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Titans.
Wilds didn't practice early in the week as he dealt with the illness, but he was able to return as a full participant Friday. Leonard Fournette (hamstring) and T.J. Yeldon (ankle) are both listed as questionable, which could have Wilds serving as the No. 3 running back if either is unable to play Sunday.

Jaguars' Brandon Wilds: Dealing with illness
Wilds missed Wednesday's practice with an illness.
With Leonard Fournette (hamstring) inactive during last week's win over the Patriots, Wilds suited up for the first time all season. He played only five snaps as the Jaguars' clear No. 3 back, finishing with four yards on three carries. Assuming Wilds shakes off the illness by the end of the week, he should be available Week 3 against the Titans, though he would likely return to the inactive list if both Fournette and T.J. Yeldon (ankle) are also cleared to play.

Wilds was promoted to the active roster on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Wilds was released in final cuts earlier this month. His promotion to the active roster seems to indicate the team may have concern about starting running back Leonard Fournette's (hamstring) health entering Sunday's game against the Patriots.
