Lions' Darrin Walls: Appears to be top reserve corner
Walls recorded one tackle in Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals.
Walls was the first to come off the bench at outside cornerback, replacing the team's top CB Darius Slay, and also worked on Detroit's first-string special teams unit. Though just halfway through the preseason, Walls appears to be entering the 2016 campaign safely on the team's roster and only behind the aforementioned Slay, Nevin Lawson and slot-man Quan Diggs at cornerback.

Lions' Darrin Walls: Joins Lions on one-year deal
Walls has agreed to terms with the Lions, ESPN's Michael Rothstein reports.
The contract is a one-year, minimum-salary deal. Through five seasons in the league, the undrafted Notre Dame product has accrued 75 tackles (11 on special teams), as well as 22 pass breakups and three picks across 54 games, including 16 starts. In 2011, Walls spent his rookie year with Atlanta, then joined the Jets the next season where he looked to be an ascending talent, as his stats increased year-to-year from 2012 to 2014. However, the Jets welcomed back CB Darrelle Revis in 2015 and Walls didn't manage a single start throughout the entire campaign. Subsequently, Walls' production fell off a cliff, and the Jets decided against keeping him in the fold. Now with the Lions, he'll compete for a starting gig following the retirement of Rashean Mathis, though Walls will likely prove to be a depth signing and special teams contributor.
