Redskins' Josh Ferguson: Little impact in 2019
Ferguson carried the ball just three times for nine yards during the 2019 campaign.
The Redskins promoted Ferguson to the active roster Week 15 following the placement of Derrius Guice (knee) on injured reserve, leading to his only carries of the season. The fourth-year pro was also active Week 17 in Dallas, though he was limited to special teams. He'll compete for a depth/special-teams role in Washington in 2020.

Redskins' Josh Ferguson: Rushes for nine yards
Ferguson rushed three times for nine yards in Sunday's 37-27 loss to the Eagles.
Ferguson was the only other Redskins running back besides Adrian Peterson to receive a carry, but the latter dominated the backfield touches with 16 totes for 66 yards and a touchdown. With Derrius Guice (knee) done for the year, Ferguson is second in line for carries, but he'd likely only become a true factor in Washington's run game if Peterson were to suffer an injury.

Josh Ferguson: Time up in Houston
Ferguson was released by the Texans on Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Ferguson's role in Houston appears to have been made expendable following the acquisition of Duke Johnson. He'll look to catch on as a change-of-pace or pass-catching option with another club.

Texans' Josh Ferguson: Added competition from newcomer
Ferguson is the player "most affected" by the Texans' acquisition of Duke Johnson, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.
Previously, there had been an open competition for slotting behind top back Lamar Miller, but with Johnson now the team's presumed No. 2/change-of-pace back, Ferguson's path to a significant pass-catching role out of the Texans' backfield is muddled.

Texans' Josh Ferguson: Looks to carve out backup role
Ferguson is competing for backup slotting behind top back Lamar Miller following the release of D'Onta Foreman, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
With Foreman no longer in the mix, there's a wide open competition for depth chart positioning behind Miller. Per Wilson, "Ferguson has displayed flashes as a third-down back adept at catching passes." Additionally, Ferguson's training camp effort has been praised by coach Bill O'Brien, and if the 5-foot-10, 205-pound back continues to shine, he could carve out enough of a change-of-pace role to merit deep-league PPR attention.

Texans' Josh Ferguson: Impressing coaching staff
Coach Bill O'Brien said Wednesday that Ferguson is the top candidate for the team's third running-back job, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Lamar Miller and D'Onta Foreman rank as the clear top two options on the depth chart, but Ferguson's pass-catching skills and ability to contribute on special teams apparently give him an early edge on the likes of holdover Buddy Howell (hamstring), free-agent pickup Taiwan Jones and undrafted rookies Karan Higdon and Damarea Crockett. The 25-year-old Ferguson didn't see any action in the NFL in 2018, but he nonetheless possesses a good feel for the Houston offense after spending time on the Texans' practice squad.
