  • Lions' D.J. Reed: Limited by injuries in 2025

Reed recorded 46 total tackles (37 solo) and seven passes defensed, including two interceptions, while also adding a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over 11 contests during the 2025 regular season. Reed was forced to miss six games with a hamstring injury in October and November, limiting his overall numbers on the season. The cornerback was able to secure multiple interceptions for the first time since 2021, while his fumble recovery was his first since that season as well. Reed inked a three-year deal with the Lions prior to the season, and he's all set to start opposite of Terrion Arnold (shoulder) again in 2026.

  • Lions' Amik Robertson: Most productive season yet

Robertson recorded 52 total tackles (43 solo), two forced fumbles and 12 passes defensed, including an interception, over 17 games during the 2025 regular season. Robertson was able to play in all 17 regular-season contests for the fourth consecutive year, setting new career highs in total tackles, solo stops and passes defensed. The slot cornerback has more than lived up to his fourth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft, and he's been rather productive over the last two campaigns in Detroit. Robertson is set to become a free agent this offseason, and he'll likely be a hot commodity if he hits the open market.

  • Lions' Rock Ya-Sin: Reliable option for Detroit in 2025

Ya-Sin recorded 47 total tackles (27 solo) and nine passes defensed over 17 games during the 2025 regular season. Ya-Sin was one of the few Lions defensive backs that was able to make it through the season unscathed, compiling a career-high nine passes defensed while playing all 17 regular-season contests for the first time in his seven NFL campaigns. The cornerback had combined to play just 311 defensive snaps over the two previous years with the Ravens and 49ers, but due to Terrion Arnold (shoulder) missing nine contests, Ya-Sin was able to log 604 snaps on defensive in 2025. Ya-Sin is set to enter free agency in the offseason, and whether it's Detroit or elsewhere, he proved he can still be a starting option for a team moving forward next season.

Muhammad produced 25 total tackles (15 solo), including 11.0 sacks, over 17 contests during the 2025 regular season. Muhammad stepped into a starting role in 2025, and he rewarded the Lions by producing a career-high 11.0 sacks, which tied for 11th in the NFL. The 30-year-old had recorded just 15.0 sacks total over his previous seven seasons in the league, and he appears to have developed into quite the complement to Aidan Hutchinson on the defensive line. Muhammad is set to become a free agent in the offseason, but the Lions will likely look to keep him in Detroit for 2026.

  • Lions' Aidan Hutchinson: Raised production in healthy 2025

Hutchinson recorded 54 total tackles (36 solo), including 14.5 sacks, while also adding four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and three passes defensed, one of which was an interception, over 17 games during the regular season. Hutchinson was able to take advantage of a healthy 2025 campaign after being limited to just five games in 2024 due to a broken left tibia and fibula. The defensive lineman set new career highs in total tackles, sacks and forced fumbles while playing all 17 regular-season contests for the third time in his four years in Detroit. Additionally, Hutchinson registered at least 1.0 sacks in each of the team's final four games of the season, securing 6.0 sacks over that stretch, and his 14.5 sacks on the year ranked fourth in the NFL. The 25-year-old already inked a fresh four-year, $180 million contract extension in October, and he'll look to help lead the Lions back to the postseason next year.

Barnes recorded 78 total tackles (40 solo), including 4.0 sacks, while also adding three passes defensed, one of which was an interception, over 17 games during the 2025 regular season. The linebacker was able exceed 70 total tackles for the second time in his five-year career, while his 4.0 sacks matched his previous four years combined. Additionally, he was able to secure his first career interception in the team's Week 14 win over the Cowboys. Barnes will now enter the second season of his three-year contract with Detroit in 2026.

  • Lions' Alim McNeill: Ruled out for Sunday

McNeill (abdomen) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears. McNeill was unable to practice at all this week due to the abdominal injury he sustained in the Christmas Day loss to the Vikings. Tyleik Williams and Roy Lopez are likely in line for an increased snap share on the defensive line in the starting defensive tackle's absence. McNeill will end his 2025 campaign with 14 tackles (five solo), including 1.0 sacks, and one pass defensed over 10 games.

  • Lions' Thomas Harper: Ruled out with concussion

Harper (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears. Harper upgraded to a limited participant in Thursday's practice but will be unable to make the jump to full participation and clear the league's concussion protocol in time for Sunday's divisional showdown. • Lions' Alex Anzalone: Ruled out for Week 18

Anzalone (concussion/personal) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears. Anzalone was able to upgrade to a limited participant Thursday before once again downgrading to a non-participant in Friday's practice, as a personal status was also added to the report. Malcolm Rodriguez and Grant Stuard will likely see an increased snap share at outside linebacker in the starter's absence. Between the linebacker experiencing private troubles, working his way back from the concussion, and the Lions being eliminated from playoff contention, it seems the team determined it best to end the 31-year-old's season a game early. Anzalone finishes the 2025 campaign with 95 tackles (52 solo), including 2.5 sacks, and nine passes defensed (including one interception) over 16 games.

  • Lions' Alim McNeill: Held out of practice Wednesday

McNeill (abdomen) was unable to practice Wednesday. McNeill suffered an injury to his abdomen on Christmas Day against Minnesota. A DNP to begin Week 18 prep puts his status for Sunday's matchup against Chicago in question. If McNeill can't play Week 18, Tyleik Williams and/or Roy Lopez would figure to be in line for more defensive snaps.

  • Lions' Avonte Maddox: Returns to practice Wednesday

Maddox (back/illness) participated in practice in a limited capacity Wednesday. Maddox wasn't able to play last Thursday against Minnesota due to a back injury and an illness. He's still on the practice report with both issues, but a limited session Wednesday gives him a chance to return to action for Detroit's season finale against the Bears on Sunday. Fellow safety Thomas Harper (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday, so the state of Detroit's secondary is in flux heading into Week 18.

  • Lions' Thomas Harper: Sits out practice Wednesday

Harper (concussion) didn't participate in practice Wednesday. Harper was diagnosed with a concussion during last Thursday's Christmas Day game against the Vikings. Muhammad's efforts Christmas Day brought him to 11.0 sacks through 16 regular-season games, which marks the first time in his NFL career that he has recorded double-digit sacks in a season.
