  • Colts' JuJu Brents: Not returning Week 16

Brents (knee) won't be activated from IR on Saturday and has been downgraded to out for Sunday's tilt against the Titans. Brents will remain on IR -- where's he's been since Sept. 10 -- for another week. The second-year cornerback did manage to log a trio of limited practices this week after being designated to return Wednesday, so it's still possible he could get back on the field before the end of the regular season. Brents' next opportunity to play will come Sunday, Dec. 29 versus the Giants.

  • Colts' Jaylon Carlies: Comes off IR, set to play Sunday

The Colts activated Carlies (lower leg/shoulder) off injured reserve Saturday and removed his injury designation for Sunday's matchup versus Tennessee. Carlies has missed Indianapolis' past seven contests while recovering from a lower-leg injury he suffered Week 7 against Miami. He was designated to return from IR on Dec. 11 and, after remaining on injured reserve for last Sunday's loss to Broncos, was able to log a trio of full practices this week. Carlies will likely maintain the same rotational role on defense he held prior to getting hurt, and he had also been contributing on special teams.

  • Colts' JuJu Brents: Questionable for Week 16

Brents (knee) was a limited participant in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans. Brents was placed on injured reserve in mid-September after suffering an MCL injury against the Texans in Week 1. The injury was severe enough to require surgery, but he was able to progress in his recovery enough to return to practice Wednesday. If Brents isn't activated off IR ahead of Sunday's AFC South clash, his next opportunity to play will be Week 17 against the Giants on Sunday, Dec. 29.

  • Colts' E.J. Speed: Out against Tennessee

Speed (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Titans, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports. Speed will miss his second game of the season as the Colts take on the Titans at home. The sixth-year linebacker missed Week 7 against the Dolphins with a knee problem, and this very likely could be related to that injury. His next chance to see the field will be Week 17 versus the Giants.

  • Ambry Thomas: Fails physical

The Colts failed Thomas' (forearm) physical Thursday after having claimed him off waivers from the 49ers on Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Thomas hasn't yet fully healed from the forearm fracture he suffered during training camp, so he won't join Indianapolis' 53-man roster. The fourth-year pro will look to get fully healthy and then search for another opportunity to sign with a team.

  • Colts' Ambry Thomas: Claimed by Indianapolis

The Colts claimed Thomas (forearm) off waivers from the 49ers on Wednesday, Joel Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports. Thomas has been on injured reserve for the entire regular season after he broke his forearm in a preseason game against the Titans in August. He was waived by the 49ers on Tuesday, but he has quickly found a new home with the Colts and will provide depth in the secondary.

  • Colts' JuJu Brents: Ready to practice

Colts head coach Shane Steichen announced Wednesday that Brents (knee) has been designated for return from injured reserve. Brents' 21-day practice window will officially open, and he can be added back to the 53-man roster at any point during that timeframe. The 2023 second-round pick is thus eligible to return to action as early as Sunday's game against the Titans, if Indianapolis makes the corresponding transaction. Brents is working his way back from an MCL injury that's kept him sidelined since the Colts' regular-season opener and required surgery.

  • Colts' Tyquan Lewis: Good to go versus Denver

Lewis (ribs) was listed as active for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Lewis first appeared on this week's injury report on Friday with a rib issue. However, this won't keep him from suiting up for the third game in a row. Across six appearances this season, Lewis has logged 20 tackles, including 1.5 sacks. He should continue to play behind starting defensive ends Kwity Paye and Dayo Odeyingbo on Sunday.

  • Colts' Jaylon Carlies: Still on IR

Carlies (lower leg) remains on injured reserve and will not play Sunday against the Broncos. The rookie linebacker was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday after missing six games, but he clearly still needs more time before he can play in another contest. Carlies has played a depth role for the Colts this season, logging 21 tackles (14 solo), including 1.0 sacks, on 137 defensive snaps.

  • Colts' Tyquan Lewis: Added to injury report Saturday

Lewis (ribs) is questionable to suit up for Sunday's Week 15 game in Denver. Lewis didn't appear on Indianapolis' injury report throughout the week, but he's now dealing with a rib injury that puts his status for Sunday's matchup in peril. The veteran defensive end missed seven games earlier in the campaign, but that was due to a calf issue. If Lewis sits out Sunday, Isaiah Land could get more defensive snaps.

  • Colts' Jaylon Carlies: Iffy to face Denver

Carlies (lower leg) is expected to be a game-time call for Sunday's Week 15 battle against the Broncos, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Carlies called himself a game-time decision after the Colts deemed him questionable for Sunday. The rookie linebacker remains on IR, and he'll need to be activated Saturday in order to be eligible to suit up Sunday. Carlies set himself up for a possible return by logging a trio of full practices this week.

  • Colts' JuJu Brents: Practice window not opening yet

Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Wednesday the team is not yet designating Brents (knee) to return from IR, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Brents, who was placed on IR after injuring his knee during Indianapolis' regular-season opener, has technically been eligible to resume practicing since early October. It doesn't appear as though the second-year pro has a significant chance of returning for Sunday's road matchup against the Broncos, though, which will leave him with just three more opportunities to get back on the field before the conclusion of the regular season.

  • Trysten Hill: Placed on injured list

The Colts placed Hill (undisclosed) on the practice squad/injured list Tuesday. Hill will have to spend at least four games on the practice squad/injured list, which rules him out for the remainder of the regular season. If Indianapolis earns a playoff berth, Hill will have a chance to get healthy in time to be eligible for elevation from the practice squad.

  • Colts' Nick Cross: Records first sack of career

Cross recorded nine tackles (eight solo), including 1.0 sacks, during Sunday's 25-24 win at New England. Sunday's game was Cross' fifth with nine-plus tackles over the last seven games, and the sack was his first as a pro. He's second in the league in tackles behind teammate Zaire Franklin heading into the Colts' bye in Week 14.

  • Colts' DeForest Buckner: Gets another sack Sunday

Buckner recorded seven tackles (one solo), including 1.0 sacks, during Sunday's 25-24 win at New England. Buckner's sack came on a third down in the red zone to hold the Patriots to a field goal on their first drive. He has been as efficient as ever as a pass rusher when healthy this season, keeping him on the IDP map for the fantasy playoffs in some formats.

  • Colts' E.J. Speed: Has nice day in win

Speed recorded nine tackles (eight solo) and a pass defensed during Sunday's 25-24 win at New England. Speed tallied nine-plus tackles for the fifth time in his last six contests in Week 13, and his pass breakup prevented a big gain on the Patriots' final drive of the game. He projects as a good IDP option for the fantasy playoffs after the Colts' bye in Week 14.
