Redskins' Russell Hansbrough: Lands in Washington
Hansbrough signed a reserve/future contract with the Redskins on Thursday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Hansbrough did not sign with a team during the 2018 regular season but now joins Washington's 90-man roster. The 25-year-old has only played five special teams snaps in his NFL career and faces an uphill battle to secure a depth role with the Redskins this offseason.

Chargers' Russell Hansbrough: Held out of Saturday's preseason win
Hansbrough did not play in Saturday's preseason victory over the Seahawks due to an undisclosed injury, Chris Hayre of the Chargers' official site reports.
Hansbrough could be in danger of missing additional time in practice this week if the undisclosed injury lingers, while fellow backup running backs Austin Ekeler (calf) and Justin Jackson (hamstring) are also dealing with issues of their own. This leaves starter Melvin Gordon and Detrez Newsome as the lone options at full strength in the Chargers' backfield heading into Week 3 of the preseason.

Chargers' Russell Hansbrough: Won't dress in Week 17
Hansbrough (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
The Chargers added Hansbrough from the practice squad Friday as insurance at running back, but with starter Melvin Gordon (ankle) cleared to play, the team didn't have a need to keep Hansbrough active. Branden Oliver and Austin Ekeler will dress as Gordon's backups in Week 17.

Chargers' Russell Hansbrough: Promoted to Chargers' 53-man roster
The Chargers promoted Hansbrough from the practice squad Friday, Mike DiGiovanna of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The transaction is a strategic move in the event Melvin Gordon is unable to play Sunday against the Raiders. Listed as questionable for the regular-season finale, he likely would cede snaps to Branden Oliver and potentially Hansbrough, if active, because the cast on Austin Ekeler's left hand is containing him to special-teams work at the moment.

Russell Hansbrough: Waived by Bucs
Hansbrough was waived by the Buccaneers on Saturday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Hansbrough simply wasn't good enough to earn his keeps among the Tampa Bay backfield this season. That isn't to say he's not good enough for other teams, however. It'll be interesting to see if he can attract other suitors following his departure from Tampa Bay.

Hansbrough rushed twice for five yards and brought in all four of his targets for 34 yards in Thursday's preseason loss to the Redskins.
Hansbrough saw eight less rushing touches than fifth-round pick Jeremy McNichols, but he did play 28 snaps to McNichols' 20 and also paced the team in receptions. The battle between Hansbrough and McNichols for what would be a fourth running back spot will be settled by Saturday's final roster deadline of 4pm Eastern.

Buccaneers' Russell Hansbrough: Impressive in brief stint Saturday
Hansbrough (concussion) rushed four times for 28 yards in Saturday's 13-9 preseason loss to the Browns.
The backup running back notably out-snapped fellow reserve Jeremy McNichols by an 8-2 margin, with the latter getting pulled after missing a blocking assignment that led to a sack. Hansbrough gained all but one of his yards on one run, so his final line was a bit misleading. Nevertheless, he presumably remains in the mix for a spot on the final roster entering the exhibition finale, although Peyton Barber appears to have the inside track if the Bucs opt to keep four backs for the time being.

Buccaneers' Russell Hansbrough: Promoted to active roster
Hansbrough was promoted from the Buccaneers' practice squad to the 53-man roster Monday, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
With Antone Smith (knee) now on injured reserve after his first game with Tampa Bay, the team will now need to promote Hansbrough once again for some added depth at the running back position. Unless more injuries occur within the unit, don't expect Hansbrough to play a major role in the running game.
