  • Don Jones: Waived by San Francisco

Jones (knee) was waived by the 49ers on Wednesday.

  • 49ers' Don Jones: Recovering from torn ACL

Jones was revealed to be recovering from a torn ACL, Steffany Means of WBRC FOX6 News reports. "My knee is coming along real good. I think I have another month or two but I think I will be back to fully recovered soon," the safety said.

Jones hurt his knee during the 49ers' final preseason game in 2017, but the full extent of his injury wasn't previously known. The Arkansas State product seems unlikely to be fully available until training camp starts back up in late July or early August.

  • 49ers' Don Jones: Inks two-year deal with Niners

Jones signed a two-year contract with the 49ers on Friday.

Jones is among the best gunners in the league and led the Texans with 11 special teams tackles in 2016, despite playing in just nine games. Given the barren nature of the 49ers' secondary, he could conceivably carve out a role on defense this upcoming season.

  • Don Jones: Signed by Texans

Jones was signed to the Texans' 53-man roster Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Jones' arrival will add depth at safety after the team was forced to place K.J. Dillon on IR with a torn ACL. The Texans' will be the fifth team Jones plays for thus far in his four-year career.
