Taco Charlton: Cut by San Francisco
Charlton (undisclosed) was released from injured reserve with an injury settlement Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
The 2017 first-round pick's time in San Francisco was short lived, as he's been released after agreeing to terms with the team Aug. 1. Charlton has spent six years in the NFL, appearing in 60 games and recording 95 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. He had stints with Dallas, Miami, Kansas City, Pittsburgh and Chicago before joining the 49ers this offseason. It's unclear what the 28-year-old's injury is at the moment.

49ers' Taco Charlton: Placed on IR
Charlton (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve by the 49ers on Saturday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Charlton signed with the 49ers on Aug. 1, but he's now dealing with an undisclosed injury. The defensive end will now have to reach an injury settlement with San Francisco to be eligible to play again this season.

Charlton agreed to terms with the 49ers on a one-year deal Tuesday.
The defensive end replaced safety Avery Young on San Francisco's roster. A six-year veteran and 2017 first-round pick, Charlton has 13 career starts. The 28-year-old will likely compete for a depth role on the 49ers' defensive line.

Charlton was waived by the Bears so they could add depth at cornerback. He spent the first half of the season on the Saints' practice squad before getting picked up by Chicago. He is now set to look for a new landing spot.

Charlton hasn't yet made his 2022 season debut, but he could get a chance to contribute for the Bears as early as Sunday's contest against the Falcons. The 2017 first-round pick logged 11 appearances with the Steelers last year.

Steelers' Taco Charlton: Filling in for T.J. Watt
Charlton is expected to replace the injured T.J. Watt (hip) as a starter on the edge during Sunday's game against the Chargers, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.
Since being signed off the practice squad Nov. 3, Charlton has appeared in each of the past three games for the Steelers, filling a rotational role on defense while logging six tackles. Expect Charlton to get a steady bump in field time Sunday in place of Watt after he played no more than 34 percent of the Steelers' defensive snaps in any of his prior three contests.
