Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Misses FGA in Week 13 loss
Gonzalez converted one of two field-goal attempts and all three extra-point tries in the Falcons' 27-24 loss to the Jets on Sunday.
Gonzalez missed a 50-yard field-goal attempt wide right in the third quarter but hit one from 52 yards on the next drive. Through four games with the Falcons, Gonzalez has made seven of eight field goals and all nine of his PATs. In an offense now quarterbacked by Kirk Cousins with Drake London (knee) injured, Gonzalez isn't an exciting fantasy kicker.

Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Perfect on four kicks vs. NOLA
Gonzalez went 3-for-3 on field-goal attempts and made his lone extra-point try during the Falcons' 24-10 win over the Saints on Sunday.
Gonzalez opened Sunday's scoring with a 56-yard field goal early in the first quarter and added two more field goals from 41 and 54 yards in the second frame. The veteran kicker has been perfect since joining Atlanta in early November, having made all six of his field-goal attempts (three of which have come from 50-plus yards) and each of his six point-after tries across three regular-season games.

Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Perfect on five kicks in loss
Gonzalez converted both of his field-goal attempts and all three extra-point tries in the Falcons' 30-27 loss to the Panthers on Sunday.
Atlanta jumped out to an early 21-7 lead but blew it late, as the offense settled for just two second-half field goals from Gonzalez, including one from 45 yards out late in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Gonzalez has now kicked in two games with Atlanta, converting all three field goals and five of five extra points. Gonzalez will be in a plus kicking spot against New Orleans next Sunday.

Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: Perfect in loss
Gonzalez made his only field-goal attempt and completed a pair of extra-point tries during the Falcons' 31-25 overtime loss to the Colts in Berlin on Sunday.
Gonzalez completed a 47-yard field goal to extend the Falcons' lead in the third quarter. The new kicker is perfect on field goals and extra points through his first game as a Falcon.

Falcons' Zane Gonzalez: New kicker in Atlanta
Gonzalez agreed to a one-year contract with the Falcons on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Atlanta will make room for Gonzalez on its roster by waiving incumbent kicker Parker Romo, whose missed extra-point attempt in this past Sunday's game against the Patriots proved to be the difference in a 24-23 loss. Gonzalez, who had been a free agent since being cut by Washington in April, brings ample NFL experience to the table, though he's rarely performed well enough to earn a long-term stay at any of his four stops since entering the league in 2017. The 30-year-old has converted field goals at an 80 percent clip across stints with the Browns, Cardinals, Panthers and Commanders over parts of six seasons.

Zane Gonzalez: Let go by Washington
The Commanders are releasing Gonzalez on Tuesday after having signed Matt Gay, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.
Gonzalez performed admirably for Washington after Austin Seibert (groin) was lost to injury in Week 12 last year, suiting up for six regular-season games and three postseason contests. In that span he converted 12 of his 15 field-goal attempts and all 27 of his extra-point tries. Gonzalez, who will turn 30 in early May, likely won't need long to catch on with a new team.

Commanders' Zane Gonzalez: Running it back in D.C.
Washington re-signed Gonzalez on Thursday.
As Austin Seibert went to the Commanders' injured reserve list with a hip injury ahead of Week 13, Gonzalez was signed to fill in. Over nine games, including the postseason, he made 12 of his 15 field-goal tries and all 27 of his extra-point attempts. That seems to have been good enough to earn him priority for the starting job for 2025.

Commanders' Zane Gonzalez: Fills in capably for Seibert
Gonzalez made six regular-season appearances and three playoff appearances for the Commanders in 2024, en route to converting 12 of 15 field-goal attempts and all 27 PATs.
The Commander signed Gonzalez in November as a replacement for Austin Seibert, who missed the final two months of the regular season and all of the postseason with a hip injury. Gonzalez filled in capably, making his first regular-season appearances since 2021 and missing only three kicks in nine games. He's scheduled for unrestricted free agency this offseason and will turn 30 in May.

Commanders' Zane Gonzalez: Limited Tuesday with hip issue
Gonzalez was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice due to a hip injury.
Gonzalez connected on both of his extra-point attempts and all three of his field-goal tries -- including the game winner from 37 yards as time expired -- in the Commanders' 23-20 wild-card win over the Buccaneers, but he seems to have picked up a hip issue along the way. There's no indication yet he's in danger of missing Saturday's divisional-round matchup with the Lions, however. Washington doesn't currently have any other kickers on its active roster or practice squad.

Commanders' Zane Gonzalez: Takes every rep Wednesday
Gonzalez (hip) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
Gonzalez was listed as a limited participant Tuesday on Washington's first injury report of the week, but his ability to take every rep a day later clears up any concern about his status for Saturday's divisional-round game in Detroit. After connecting on five of seven field-goal attempts and 19 of 19 extra-point tries over his six appearances with Washington in the regular season, Gonzalez went a perfect 5-for-5 on kicks in this past Sunday's wild-card win over the Buccaneers. He nailed two point-after attempts and all three of his field goals, including a 37-yarder that clanged off the right upright and in for the game-winning points with no time remaining.
