Broncos' Philly Brown: Sidelined Sunday
Brown won't practice Sunday after hitting his head before the session, Ryan O'Halloran of The Denver Post reports.
Brown reportedly hit his head on a rack in the weight room Sunday morning, leading to his absence from practice. It's unclear if he suffered a concussion, in which case he'd likely miss at least a few days of practice, or whether the issue is minor and he'll return soon.

Bills' Philly Brown: Waived by Bills
Brown was waived by the Bills on Saturday, James Palmer of the NFL Network reports.
The Bills signed Brown earlier in the week to help boost their wide receiver depth with Jordan Matthews sidelined for a month, but it appears they are more concerned with their defensive backfield, as they have signed cornerback Greg Mabin in a corresponding move. There are now just four healthy receivers on the team's roster heading into Sunday's matchup against the Bengals, though the team has options from its practice squad it will probably use.

Bills' Philly Brown: Signs with Bills
Brown signed with the Bills on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Brown spent training camp with the Bills before being released prior to the start of the regular season, but with Jordan Matthews (thumb) set to miss at least a month, the team will bring Brown back to help with its depth at wide receiver. Rookie Zay Jones and Andre Holmes are set to lead the unit in Matthews' absence, however, so Brown will likely play a minor role during his time with the team.

Bills' Philly Brown: Starts preseason strong
Brown caught all three of his targets for 23 yards in Thursday's preseason opener against Minnesota.
None of those receptions came from the arm of Tyrod Taylor, who targeted Sammy Watkins on five of eight pass attempts. Brown did his damage in the second quarter while playing with T.J. Yates and the second-team offense. The former Panther seems to be competing with the likes of Andre Holmes, Rod Streater and Brandon Tate for the fourth and fifth spots on the depth chart.

Bills' Philly Brown: Misses practice Thursday
Brown missed Thursday's practice due to an illness, Vic Carucci of The Buffalo News reports.
Brown's illness doesn't figure to keep him sidelined for an extended period of time, but it's a small bump in the road on his quest for first-team reps at wide receiver. He'll continue to battle against Andre Holmes and Zay Jones for targets behind Sammy Watkins (foot) upon his eventual return to the practice field.

Bills' Philly Brown: More competition arrives
Brown, signed in March to help the Bills rebuild their depleted receiving corps, will face added competition after the team drafted Zay Jones in the second round last weekend.
The Bills traded up to get the rookie from East Carolina, and the talk already has him getting a fair shake at the vacant No. 2 position. Of course, Brown offers more experience than Jones, though he's only produced between 21 and 31 catches over his three pro seasons. That said, rookies have struggled to quickly grasp the pro game before, so consider this an open three-way battle for now, with Andre Holmes also in the running. Truthfully, because Brown is so small and has the ability to help out more in the return game or on change-it-up run plays, we have to list him fourth on the current WR depth chart.

Bills' Philly Brown: Preparing for open battle for starting job
Brown will be part of an open battle for the starting job across from Sammy Watkins, The Buffalo News reports.
Signed away from Carolina this offseason, Brown might actually be the favorite to emerge from a group that also includes Kolby Listenbee (pelvis), Dez Lewis, Walter Powell (ankle), Andre Holmes, Jeremy Butler and Corey Washington. Competition for slotting behind Watkins should truly be open, with at least five or six players likely in the mix for key roles in Buffalo's offense. The team could use a high draft pick on a wide receiver, but head coach Sean McDermott said he believes the team's No. 2 target will emerge from what's already on the roster.

Bills' Philly Brown: Signs with Bills
Brown signed with the Bills on Sunday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Brown witnessed a small dip in production last season, hauling in 27 receptions for just 276 yards after tallying 31 catches for 447 yards in 2015. Entering his fourth season, Brown will have the chance to emerge as a secondary target for Tyrod Taylor in 2017. Last season, the Bills ranked 31st in receiving yards per game and 27th in touchdown receptions. While Brown might not necessarily be a Pro Bowler anytime soon, he'll likely have the chance to function as a core receiver alongside Sammy Watkins.

Panthers' Philly Brown: Set to test free agency
The Panthers don't plan to offer Brown a contract tender, which sets the stage for the wideout to become an unrestricted free agent Thursday, ESPN.com reports.
The 25-year-old wideout is still a candidate to return to the Panthers in 2017, at the right price. In his third season with the team, Brown logged 27 catches on 53 targets for 276 yards and a TD in 16 games for the Panthers in 2016, while working behind Kelvin Benjamin and Ted Ginn Jr.
