The Texans worked out Ximines (knee) on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Ximines hasn't seen meaningful action since he went to New England's injured reserve list early last season, but his recent activity suggests he has recovered from last year's knee issue. He's still a free agent as the preseason gets underway.

Patriots' Oshane Ximines: Shifts to IR
The Patriots placed Ximines (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday.
Ximines had been ruled out for Thursday night's contest against the Jets due to a knee injury, but he's since shifted to New England's IR. The Old Dominion product logged one total tackle across two games, playing 44 total snaps (14 defensive and 30 on special teams) before suffering his injury.

Patriots' Oshane Ximines: Won't play Thursday
Ximines (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Thursday night's matchup with the Jets.
Ximines was held out of practice both Tuesday and Wednesday after sustaining a knee injury during New England's Week 2 loss, so it's no surprise that he won't be suiting up in Week 3. Anfernee Jennings and Josh Uche are currently the only two healthy outside linebackers on the Patriots' active roster heading into Thursday night.

Patriots' Oshane Ximines: Still injured based on estimate
Ximines (knee) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate.
Ximines exited Sunday's overtime loss to the Seahawks and was unable to return to the game. Although Monday's report is just an estimate, it's still not a good sign for the Old Dominion product considering the Patriots are on a short week. Unless he's ruled out prior, more clarity on Ximines' status for Thursday night's Week 3 clash against the Jets may not come until the team releases its inactive list about 90 minutes before kickoff.

Oshane Ximines: Cut by New York
Ximines was released by the Giants on Tuesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
The 26-year-old appeared in 45 games throughout his four years in New York, putting up 67 tackles, nine tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. Ximines re-signed with the Giants this offseason, but the team's recent trade for Boogie Basham most likely sealed his fate with Big Blue.

Ximines re-signed with the Giants on Wednesday, Art Stapleton of USA Today reports.
Ximines will now remain in New York for the 2023 campaign, marking his fifth season in the organization. The 2019 third-round pick logged 24 tackles (15 solo) and two sacks in 15 games last season, and he should continue to provide value as a rotational player behind starting edge rushers Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari in 2023.
