He played the entire game as Dak Prescott was held out in advance of his Week 1 start, but Showers did little to convince the Cowboys he can be an adequate backup for Prescott while Tony Romo (back) is on the shelf. It's unclear if Showers or a late veteran addition will open the season as Prescott's top backup.
