Vigil had 59 tackles (41 solo) and two interceptions in seven games for the Redskins in 2017.
Vigil signed with Washington in mid-November and initially had a limited role defensively, but earned more opportunities as the team's injuries mounted towards the end of the year. The 26-year-old took advantage with 47 tackles and both interceptions in the final four games of the season. Vigil is under contract through 2018 -- while fellow inside linebackers Zach Brown and Mason Foster are slated for free agency -- leaving a sizable hole in the middle of the Redskins defense should they not be retained.

Redskins' Zach Vigil: Eight tackles in win
Vigil recorded eight tackles (six solo) and a pass defensed in Sunday's 20-15 win over the Cardinals.
Vigil, who signed with Washington a month ago, played all 85 of the team's defensive snaps Sunday. The linebacker has seen increased reps each week he's spent with the team, given the injuries to Will Compton (foot) and Mason Foster (shoulder).

Vigil (neck) wasn't included on the Redskins' injury report Wednesday.
Vigil departed the Redskins' previous game Nov. 30 with the injury, but with the last five days off to heal up, the neck issue doesn't look to be anything that will prevent him from playing Sunday versus the Chargers. The linebacker, who recorded a season-high six tackles last week, could start on the inside this week if either Zach Brown (hamstring/Achilles) or Martrell Spaight (ankle) is unavailable.

Redskins' Zach Vigil: Questionable to return Thursday
The Redskins have labeled Vigil as questionable to return to Thursday's game against the Cowboys due to a neck injury.

Vigil will help the Redskins restore some depth at inside linebacker with Will Compton (foot) joining Mason Foster (shoulder) on injured reserve earlier this week. Vigil, who was placed on the Dolphins' NFI list in August, figures to provide depth at linebacker as well as special teams contributions. In 16 games with Miami during the 2015 season, he recorded just 18 tackles (15 solo) during his rookie campaign.

Vigil has been dealing with a nagging back injury and will now be sidelined for the first six weeks of the regular season. When healthy, he'll likely return to a special teams role in which he recorded 18 tackles and a blocked punt across 16 games during the 2015 campaign.

As a rookie, Vigil appeared in every game for the Dolphins last season. It's currently unclear why the 25-year-old has been sidelined from practice. Prior to his arrival on the PUP list, Miami had been prepping Vigil to function as one of team's top reserve linebackers for the 2016 season.
