  • Austin Bryant: Reaches injury settlement

    Bryant (undisclosed) was waived with an injury settlement by the 49ers on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

    The defensive end now has a chance to play in 2024 if he catches on with another team. Bryant played in two regular-season games and on 35 defensive snaps with the 49ers in 2023. The sixth-year pro spent the previous four seasons with Detroit, never recording more than 31 tackles in a season.

    San Francisco placed Bryant (undisclosed) on injured reserve Friday, according to the team's official site.

    Bryant will now be slated to miss the entire 2024 season unless the 49ers agree on an injury settlement with the defensive lineman. He recorded one tackle across 35 defensive snaps during two regular-season games in the 2023 campaign.

    Bryant agreed to a one-year contract with the 49ers on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

    Bryant will be moving to the West Coast after a four-year stint in Detroit to begin his NFL career. The 26-year-old defensive end made nine appearances in 2019, logging nine tackles, one pass breakup and zero sacks. He's projected to fill a depth role for San Francisco.
