Jace Sternberger: Let go by Buffalo
The Bills waived Sternberger on Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Sternberger signed with the Bills in July after spending the past two seasons on the practice squads of the Packers, Commanders and Steelers. With the Buffalo tight end room headlined by Dawson Knox and 2023 first-round pick Dalton Kincaid, it was always a longshot for Sternberger to crack the final 53-man roster.

Bills' Jace Sternberger: Signs with Buffalo
Sternberger signed a one-year deal with the Bills on Tuesday.
Sternberger will now officially head to Buffalo for the 2023 season, after it was first reported that he was supposed to sign there on Monday. The 27-year-old has caught just 12 passes (16 targets) for 114 yards and a touchdown in 18 games throughout his four-year career and will likely be competing for a depth spot behind Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid.

Bills' Jace Sternberger: Expected to land in Buffalo
The Bills plan to sign Sternberger on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Sternberger, a 2019 third-round pick by the Packers, appeared in 18 games over two seasons in Green Bay and caught 12 passes for 114 yards and one touchdown. He was let go in 2021 after serving a two-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy and has since spent time with the Seahawks, Commanders and Steelers but never appeared in a regular-season game for any of those teams. Sternberger played for the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL this spring and led the league with seven touchdowns while finishing fourth in receiving yards (517). The 27-year-old is certainly talented, but he'll have an uphill battle landing a roster spot in a tight end room that features Dawson Knox (lower leg) and Dalton Kincaid.

Jace Sternberger: Waived by WFT
Sternberger was waived by Washington on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old was added to the team Oct. 6 after Logan Thomas (hamstring) was place on injured reserve but failed to play in any contests. With Thomas likely returning following Washington's bye in Week 9, they no longer need Sternberger. The tight end will either be claimed by another team, moved to the practice squad or out right released.

Jace Sternberger: Clears waivers
Sternberger went unclaimed on waivers Wednesday and is now a free agent, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Sternberger has concluded his two-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, making him eligible to suit up for game action as soon as he finds a new home in the league. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Packers will attempt to re-sign Sternberger to their practice squad, but the 2019 third-round pick could still end up finding an opportunity on a 53-man roster with another club.

Jace Sternberger: Time in Green Bay comes to end
Sternberger (suspension) will be waived by the Packers on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Sternberger opened the 2021 season with a two-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, and rather than add him back to the active roster, the Packers are opting to send the 2019 third-round pick to waivers. Across 18 career games in Green Bay the tight end only racked up 12 catches for 114 yards and a touchdown, and Robert Tonyan is entrenched as the team's top option at the position. A fresh start could be the best scenario for Sternberger's prospects.

Packers' Jace Sternberger: Remains with Packers for now
Sternberger made the Packers' roster but will open the season on the reserve/suspended list.
With Sternberger having an inconsistent training camp and facing a two-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy, the Packers could have opted to release him on cut-down day. However, with the team able to place him on the suspended list without occupying a roster spot, they decided to keep him around for the time being. The Packers will have another decision to make when Sternberger is eligible to return in Week 3, and there is still a chance he could be sent packing at that point.

Packers' Jace Sternberger: Finds paydirt in preseason game
Sternberger was targeted three times and caught two passes for five yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Jets.
Sternberger hauled in a five-yard touchdown pass from Kurt Benkert in the second quarter of Saturday's contest, but he also mishandled a third-down pass earlier in the game that would have given the Packers a first down, so it was not the clean showing he could have used to secure a spot on the roster. Sternberger will have one more chance to impress before the Packers decide to keep him around -- and place him on the suspended list to start the season -- or move on.

Packers' Jace Sternberger: Could be on roster bubble
Sternberger (suspension) could be on the roster bubble, according to Bill Huber of PackerCentral.com.
Sternberger caught three passes for 35 yards in the Packers' preseason opener against the Texans and hauled in a 34-yard pass from Jordan Love on the Packers' only scoring drive of the night. However, tight ends coach Justin Outten was not complimentary when asked about Sternberger on Sunday and said the team still needs to see more consistency from the player. The Packers have a lot of tight ends they like, so even though Sternberger was a third-round pick just two years ago, he isn't assured of making the cut. Even if he does, he won't be eligible to play Weeks 1 or 2, as he was handed a two-game suspension over the offseason for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Packers' Jace Sternberger: Handed two-game ban
Sternberger was suspended for the first two games of the 2021 season Thursday for violating the league's substance abuse policy, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
According to Sternberger's personal twitter account, the suspension stems from an incident in 2020. The Texas A&M product recorded just 12 catches last year, and he's destined for a depth role again in 2021 behind Robert Tonyan. Sternberger will be eligible to return to the team following Week 2's Monday night clash with Detroit.
