Wilson also worked as the backup punt returner behind Rashid Shaheed, though the former fumbled his lone opportunity Week 1 on a 34-yard punt late in the fourth quarter. Wilson did not make much of an impression while working in with New Orleans' first-team offense, which was on the field for the first two drives Saturday. The 28-year-old appeared to step in for the absent Rashid Shaheed (hamstring), as he also handled the team's punt-return duties throughout the first quarter. Wilson's role as a pass catcher may be limited, but his value as a backup punt returner may help him latch onto the Saints' final 53-man roster.
Wilson signed a two-year contract with the Saints on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Wilson played the last two seasons in Miami but was something of an afterthought in the offense while playing behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. He could potentially see an increased role with the Saints, who have a returning wide receiver corps of only Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed and A.T. Perry. Wilson will likely fight for playing time throughout training camp, but he has a realistic chance to surpass his previous high of 521 offensive snaps in a season in the upcoming campaign.

It's disappointing that Wilson couldn't draw more targets on a day when Jaylen Waddle (ankle) sat out, especially since the Ravens were without two of their leading corners (Brandon Stephens and Kyle Hamilton). The touchdown salvaged the game somewhat for Wilson, but whenever Waddle is healthy again Wilson will likely be reduced mostly to a blocker again.
