Top Shemar Jean-Charles News

  • Seahawks' Shemar Jean-Charles: Heading to Seattle

The Seahawks signed Jean-Charles to a contract Saturday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

Jean-Charles was signed to the Saints' 53-man roster in November after being cut by New Orleans following the conclusion of training camp in late August. He appeared in nine regular-season games (including two starts) for the Saints in 2024 and finished with 14 tackles (six tackles) and two pass defenses (one interception). Jean-Charles adds depth to the Seahawks' secondary and will have the chance to compete for a prominent role.

  • Saints' Shemar Jean-Charles: Back in Big Easy

Jean-Charles re-signed with the Saints on Monday, Howard Balzer of GoPHNX.com reports.

Jean-Charles was not tendered by New Orleans as a restricted free agent, but he will return to the team nonetheless. After spending his first two seasons in Green Bay, the 25-year-old suited up for eight games between the 49ers and Saints in 2023. He accumulated four tackles (three solo) in the process. The Appalachian State product will now look to make an impression during offseason workouts.

  • Shemar Jean-Charles: Let go by Green Bay

Jean-Charles was waived by Green Bay on Tuesday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

In somewhat of a surprise move, the Packers are letting go Jean-Charles, who has been great on special teams since he arrived in 2021. The 25-year-old was competing for a slot corner position, but it seems that Green Bay prefers rookie Carrington Valentine after playing him in that role late in camp. Jean-Charles will now be forced to look for a new home ahead of the coming season.

  • Packers' Shemar Jean-Charles: Practicing at full strength

Jean-Charles (ankle) was a full participant at practice Wednesday ahead of Sunday's game at Chicago.

Jean-Charles has missed the last five games with an ankle injury, but the update suggests he will probably be ready to play in Week 13 at the Bears. He's only played three defensive snaps through six games in 2022, but he could potentially mix in more with Eric Stokes (ankle) having been placed on IR since Jean-Charles initially sustained his injury.

  • Packers' Shemar Jean-Charles: Sitting again Sunday

Jean-Charles (ankle) is listed as inactive Sunday at Philadelphia, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.

Despite limited listings on all three Week 12 practice reports, Jean-Charles' ankle isn't healthy enough for him to make his first appearance since Week 7. Whenever he's healthy enough to return, though, he likely will be relegated primarily to a special-teams role, even with starting outside cornerback Eric Stokes (ankle) on IR.

  • Packers' Shemar Jean-Charles: Officially inactive

Jean-Charles (ankle) is inactive for Thursday's battle against Tennessee, Mike Spofford of the Packers' official site reports.

Jean-Charles hasn't played since Week 7, so Thursday will mark Green Bay's fourth straight game that he will miss. His continued absence will primarily impact the special-teams unit, as Jean-Charles has logged only three defensive snaps this season.

  • Packers' Shemar Jean-Charles: Unlikely to play Thursday

Jean-Charles (ankle) is doubtful for Thursday's matchup against the Titans.

Jean-Charles has missed three straight games due to an ankle injury and will likely be sidelined for a fourth. He's played primarily on special teams, so his prolonged absence hasn't impacted Green Bay's defense.

  • Packers' Shemar Jean-Charles: Set for third straight absence

Jean-Charles (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.

Jean-Charles is set to miss his third straight game due to the ankle injury, though he did manage two limited practices to close the week. He played almost exclusively on special teams prior to going down, so his absence has not had an impact on the Packers' defensive unit.

  • Packers' Shemar Jean-Charles: Unavailable once again

Jean-Charles (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Jean-Charles missed last week's game against the Bills due to his ankle injury and was unable to practice this week. His absence shouldn't impact the Packers' defensive rotation.

  • Packers' Shemar Jean-Charles: Out with ankle issue

Jean-Charles (ankle) will miss Sunday's matchup against the Bills, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Jean-Charles has played almost exclusively on special teams to begin the season, tallying three total tackles across six games. He was unable to practice in any capacity throughout the week, so it's unclear when he may be able to return.

  • Packers' Shemar Jean-Charles: Ready for return

Jean-Charles (undisclosed) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Jean-Charles was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Dec. 25 and was forced to miss Green Bay's matchup against Cleveland as a result. However, his absence should be limited to one game, and Jean-Charles should return to primarily a special-teams role Sunday against Minnesota.
