Bills' Jalen Virgil: Headed to Buffalo
The Bills signed Virgil to a reserve/future contract Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Virgil will return to Buffalo after appearing in seven regular-season games for the club in 2025. The 27-year-old spent time on the Cardinals' practice squad before being released in November, and he will look to earn a spot on the Bills' Week 1 roster for the 2026 campaign.

The 27-year-old wideout was added to the Cardinals' practice squad just one week ago, but it now appears that the team decided to move in another direction. Virgil's last in-game action came with the Bills in 2024, when he appeared in eight games and didn't record an offensive stat across 119 total snaps (83 on special teams, 36 on offense).

Virgil's addition to the Cardinals' practice squad gives the team much-needed depth at wide receiver after Zay Jones (Achilles) and Simi Fehoko (wrist) were both placed on injured reserve. Virgil could be elevated to the Cardinals' active roster ahead of Sunday's game against the 49ers, given that Xavier Weaver (ankle) is listed as questionable and Marvin Harrison (appendix) has been ruled out. Virgil was placed on injured reserve in mid-August with a hamstring injury after spending training camp with the Bills, and he was waived with an injury settlement a week later. It appears that he's now healthy and could find a new opportunity in the near future.

Virgil caught on with the Bills' practice squad in late August after failing to make the Broncos' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He was signed to Buffalo's active roster Nov. 8, and after being waived Dec. 14 he was signed back to the practice squad. He ended up playing in seven regular-season games and spent most of his time on special teams, though he did not show up in the box score otherwise. The 26-year-old wide receiver out of Appalachian State will be on the Bills' 90-man roster when the new league year starts March 12, which will allow him to participate in OTAs, minicamp and training camp ahead of the 2025 campaign.
