Rams' Mario Williams: Joining Rams for offseason
The Rams signed Williams (undisclosed) to a reserve/future contract Thursday.
Williams spent the entire 2025 season without a team after he was waived by the Rams in mid-August with an injury designation. The nature and severity of that injury were not disclosed, but he's apparently healthy enough to be a member of the Rams' 90-man roster when the offseason officially begins Feb. 9. As such, Williams will be able to participate in OTAs and minicamp and make a positive impression on the coaching staff before the start of training camp in July.

Mario Williams: Let go by Rams
The Rams waived/injured Williams (undisclosed) on Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Williams may have picked up the injury during the Rams' 23-22 preseason win over the Chargers on Saturday, when he caught two passes for 46 yards and a touchdown while returning two kicks for 40 yards. The nature of his injury isn't clear, but by being waived with an injury designation, Williams would revert to the Rams' IR if he clears waivers, forcing him to miss the entire 2025 season unless an injury settlement is reached.

Rams' Mario Williams: Hauls in long TD
Williams secured both of his targets for 46 yards and a touchdown and returned two kicks for 40 yards during Saturday's 23-22 preseason win against the Chargers.
The UDFA out of Tulane made the most of his two catches in Saturday's contest, corralling a deep pass from Stetson Bennett on the last play of the third quarter for a 38-yard touchdown reception. Despite the touchdown, Williams looks to be a long shot to make the final 53-man roster with Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, Tutu Atwell, Jordan Whittington and Konata Mumpfield all locks for the roster, and Xavier Smith seemingly distancing himself from the pack for the sixth (and likely final) wideout roster spot for the Rams.
