  • Seahawks' Cam Akers: Signs reserve/future contract

Akers signed a reserve/future contract with the Seahawks on Thursday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

The running back was elevated from the practice squad for Super Bowl LX and played four snaps on special teams. In 2025, he spent time with the Vikings and Seahawks, appeared in six regular-season games and carried the ball five times for 19 yards. Now, he'll likely remain with Seattle at least into OTAs.

  • Cam Akers: Reverts to practice squad

Akers reverted to Seattle's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Akers was elevated to the active roster for the Super Bowl but ended up playing just four snaps, all of which came on special teams. The 26-year-old spent time with both the Vikings and Seahawks during the 2025 campaign, appearing in six regular-season games and rushing for 19 yards on five carries.

  • Seahawks' Cam Akers: Elevated for Super Bowl LX

The Seahawks elevated Akers from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Akers will be elevated for a second consecutive playoff game. The running back saw just one offensive snap in the NFC Championship Game victory over the Rams, being elevated as a depth piece due to the absence of Zach Charbonnet (ACL). The 26-year-old will likely see similarly minimal usage in Super Bowl LX against the Patriots this Sunday, as George Holani will be the relief back behind Kenneth Walker.

  • Seahawks' Cam Akers: Back to practice squad

Akers reverted to the Seahawks' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Akers and Velus Jones were elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Rams, though only the former was active. Akers served as Seattle's RB3 behind Kenneth Walker and George Holani, with Akers logging three snaps (one on offense, two on special teams) while not showing up on the box score otherwise in Sunday's 31-27 win. Akers could be elevated to the Seahawks' active roster for Super Bowl LX against the Patriots on Sunday, Feb. 8.

  • Seahawks' Cam Akers: Elevated for Sunday

The Seahawks elevated Akers from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports.

With Zach Charbonnet (ACL) out for the remainder of the season, George Holani, Velus Jones and Akers will be called upon for supplemental snaps at running back behind starter Kenneth Walker in Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Rams. As a former Ram with the most postseason experience of the three backs, Akers may see the first playing opportunity when Walker needs rest.

  • Seahawks' Cam Akers: Could get opportunity vs. Rams

Akers may be elevated to the active roster for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Rams as a result of Zach Charbonnet being lost for the remainder of the postseason due to a torn ACL, per Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic.

Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker took on the vast majority of the work out of Seattle's backfield during the regular season, joining forces in a near-even offensive snap split. However, Walker figures to now log more of a workhorse role with Charbonnet out of the picture. George Holani (hamstring) remains on IR, so backup duties behind Walker seem likely to fall to Akers and/or Velus Jones. Jones was elevated for Saturday's win over San Francisco and could get the first crack at backing up Walker, though Jones produced just 10 yards on six carries in that contest and has recorded a grand total of just seven carries for 43 yards over the past two regular seasons. Akers, meanwhile, hasn't logged a carry since Week 3 (when he was still with the Vikings), but he has much more experience than Jones and has seven career postseason games (including five starts) under his belt, over which he's posted a 118-432-2 rushing line and 11-127-0 receiving line.

The Seahawks have elevated Akers from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Akers has played one prior game with the Seahawks, in Week 16 against the Rams. The running back did not have any offensive snaps in the contest and was relegated to a 12 percent special-teams snap share in the overtime victory. Akers (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

The running back signed with the team Wednesday after being cut from Minnesota's practice squad. With George Holani on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, Seattle appeared to have a spot available behind Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet, but it will not go to Akers on Sunday. The former Viking has just five carries for 19 yards this season.

  • Seahawks' Cam Akers: Signs with Seattle

Akers is headed to Seattle after being cut from Minnesota's practice squad last week. The 26-year-old carried the ball five times for 19 yards in three appearances with the Vikings. He should serve as the Seahawks' No. 3 running back for Sunday's matchup against his former team, as George Holani is doubtful with a hamstring injury.

Akers appeared in three games for the Vikings this season as a depth piece behind Jordan Mason and Zavier Scott while Aaron Jones was on injured reserve. • Vikings' Cam Akers: Back to practice squad

Akers reverted to the Vikings' practice squad Monday.

Akers played just one offensive snap during the Vikings' 21-17 win over the Browns on Sunday, but he made the most of that opportunity by throwing a 32-yard pass to Josh Oliver on a trick play in which the sixth-year running back was used as a wildcat quarterback. Akers has already been elevated to Minnesota's active roster three times, which is the maximum allowed for a season. He would have to be signed to the active roster in order to play for the Vikings for the rest of the season.

  • Vikings' Cam Akers: Throws TD pass

Akers threw a 32-yard touchdown pass on his only snap on offense while being used as a wildcat quarterback in Sunday's win over Cleveland in London.

Akers threw a perfect pass to Josh Oliver on a trick play. Akers was a successful high school quarterback and threw several halfback passes in college. Aside from the trick play, Akers had little role on offense, as he served as the team's No. 3 running back for the third straight week behind Jordan Mason and Zavier Scott, with Aaron Jones (hamstring) still on injured reserve.
