Buccaneers' K.J. Britt: Won't play Sunday
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Friday that Britt (ankle) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Britt injured his ankle Week 13 versus the Panthers and will now miss his second consecutive game while working to rehab. With Britt unavailable, J.J. Russell (hamstring) could get a chance to enter the starting lineup, if he can get healthy. Otherwise, that opportunity will figure to go to Vi Jones.

Britt hurt his ankle against Carolina in Week 13 and missed this past Sunday's win over the Raiders. Britt will miss his first game of the regular season due to an ankle injury he suffered in the first half of the Bucs' 26-23 overtime win over the Panthers this past Sunday. The injury was severe enough for him to not return in the second half of the contest, and he was held out of the Buccaneers' first official practice of the week. Britt will have two more chances to return to practice in at least a limited capacity ahead of Sunday's home game against the Raiders.

Britt has also demonstrated a better grasp of the mental part of the game, according to Bowles. The 24-year-old recorded 29 tackles (16 solo) and one pass defensed last season.
