Patriots' Christian Elliss: Solid in starting role
Elliss recorded nine tackles (four solo) during Sunday's 32-16 loss against the Jaguars.
For the first time this season, Elliss played more defensive snaps (40) than teammate Raekwon McMillan (11) and parlayed his expanded role into a season-high tackle total. He'll look forward to building on that momentum in Week 8 versus the Jets, though it's unlikely they run the ball as many times (39) as Jacksonville did Sunday.

Elliss (concussion) was removed from the Patriots' injury report Thursday.
Elliss entered concussion protocols after sustaining a head injury during the Patriots' preseason finale against the Commanders. Now that he's cleared protocols, Elliss will be good to go for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Bengals. He played for both the Eagles and Patriots last season and finished with 21 tackles (13 solo) across 16 regular-season games.

Elliss exited Sunday night's preseason game against the Commanders with a head injury and will not return.
The 25-year-old was ruled out in the second half. Elliss was claimed off waivers from the Eagles late last season and appeared in a combined 16 games for Philly and New England. He has 23 NFL games under his belt and is in line to handle a special teams role for the Patriots should he make the roster.

The Patriots claimed Elliss off waivers Friday.
Elliss played mostly on special teams for the Eagles before being waived by Philadelphia on Wednesday. He's now found a new home in New England and will provide immediate help on special teams while adding depth at oustide linebacker behind starters Anfernee Jennings and Josh Uche.
