Elliss (hip) won't play in New England's matchup against the Jets on Thursday.

Patriots' Christian Elliss: Opens week as limited
Elliss (hip) was a limited participant in Monday's walkthrough practice.
Elliss was unable to play in Sunday's 28-23 win over Tampa Bay due to a hip injury he sustained against Atlanta in Week 9. The Patriots are operating on a short week, so his practice participation over the next two days will shed light on his chances of playing against the Jets on Thursday.

Patriots' Christian Elliss: Ruled out for Week 10
Elliss (hip) won't play Sunday against the Buccaneers, head coach Mike Vrabel announced Friday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Elliss will be sidelined after exiting New England's Week 9 win over the Falcons. His next chance to suit up will come Thursday against the Jets, so Elliss won't have much additional time to recover. Jack Gibbens could move into a starting role in Elliss's absence.

Patriots' Christian Elliss: Won't practice Wednesday
Head coach Mike Vrabel said that Elliss (hip) won't practice Wednesday, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
Elliss wasn't able to finish out this past Sunday's win over the Falcons after exiting with a hip injury, so his absence from practice to begin Week 10 prep isn't overly surprising. The linebacker likely needs to upgrade to at least limited participation Thursday and/or Friday to have a chance at playing in the Patriots' Week 10 matchup with the Buccaneers.

Elliss logged three tackles (none solo) in Sunday's 32-13 win over the Browns.

Patriots' Christian Elliss: Piles up nine tackles in win
Elliss recorded nine tackles (three solo) in the Patriots' win over the Panthers on Sunday.
The nine stops marked a new season-high for the 26-year-old linebacker, as he played just 57 percent of the defensive snaps against Carolina, which is in line with his season-long mark of 59 percent. On the year, Elliss has produced 26 tackles (13 solo) through four appearances.

Patriots' Christian Elliss: Good to go Sunday
Elliss (shoulder) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game at Miami.
Elliss was limited in practice by a shoulder issue Wednesday and Thursday, but he was a full participant at practice Friday and is in line to play in Week 2. The Dolphins ran the ball just 12 times in Week 1, so if the Patriots get out to an early lead Sunday, there may not be very many opportunities for Elliss to make tackles.

Patriots' Christian Elliss: Tendered by New England
The Patriots tendered Elliss on Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
By tendering Elliss, the Patriots will have the opportunity to match any offer that another team makes for the 26-year-old interior linebacker. Elliss mostly played on special teams at the start of the 2024 regular season, but he saw his role on the defense grow due to the absence of Ja'Whaun Bentley (pectoral). Elliss ended up drawing five starts last year and accumulated 80 tackles (42 solo), including 1.5 sacks, five passes defended (one interception) and one forced fumble across 16 regular-season games.

Elliss recorded 80 total tackles (42 solo), including 1.5 sacks, five passes defended, (including one interception) and one forced fumble over 16 games in 2024.
Elliss finished as the Patriots' third-leading tackler in 2024, setting new career highs in tackles, sacks, passes defended, interceptions and forced fumbles while playing 481 defensive snaps. The Idaho product made five starts this season, helping the Patriots' defense fill the void of the injured Ja'Whaun Bentley (pectoral), who tallied 347 total tackles from 2021 to 2023. Elliss is set to become a restricted free agent this summer, meaning the Patriots will have the opportunity to match any offer he receives. If Elliss returns to New England in 2025, he's likely to serve as one of the team's top reserve inside linebackers.
