  • Patriots' Mike Brown: Heading to New England

The Patriots signed Brown (ankle) to a contract Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Brown appeared in nine regular-season games for the Titans in 2025 and had two stints on injured reserve due to knee and ankle injuries. He served almost exclusively on special teams and logged three solo tackles for Tennessee last year. Brown's addition gives the Patriots added depth in the secondary and another contributor on special teams.

Brown (ankle) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the 49ers, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Brown injured his ankle in the first half, and, after he was evaluated by medical staff, it's been determined that the injury is severe enough for him to miss the rest of Sunday's game. With Xavier Woods (hamstring) also ruled out, Kendell Brooks will continue to work in an expanded role at safety.

Brown (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the 49ers.

Brown appeared to sustain the injury in the first half, and he is being evaluated by medical staff to determine whether he can return. Xavier Woods (hamstring) is also questionable to return, so Kendell Brooks is poised for a larger role in the defense for as long as both Brown and Woods are sidelined.
