  • D'Anthony Bell: Cut by Seattle

The Seahawks waived Bell on Tuesday, Curtis Crabtree of Fox 13 Seattle reports.

Bell had played in 13 of Seattle's 14 games this season, but he had mostly featured on special teams. The fourth-year safety tallied 15 tackles (six solo), including 0.5 sacks, during his time with the Seahawks. Bell's departure may signal that the team is preparing to activate WR and kick returner Dareke Young (quadriceps) from IR this week.

  • Seahawks' D'Anthony Bell: Signs with Seattle

The Seahawks signed Bell to a one-year contract Friday, Chad Krispinsky of WKBN First News 27 reports.

Bell spent the last three seasons in Cleveland, where he carved out a significant role on special teams. He appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Browns in 2024. The 28-year-old safety will spend the offseason working to establish himself as a reliable special-teams asset with his new team.

  • Browns' D'Anthony Bell: Increased role ahead

Bell will start at free safety against the Eagles on Sunday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Bell will see a major uptick in work during Week 6 due to Ronnie Hickman (ankle) and Grant Delpit (concussion) being inactive against Philadelphia. The 27-year-old Bell hasn't seen much action this season outside of special teams work, but on 214 defensive snaps last season, he did have four passes defended, including two interceptions.

  • Browns' D'Anthony Bell: Passes physical

Bell (shin) passed a physical Monday.

As a result, Bell will be eligible to suit up and play come Week 1 versus the Cowboys. He projects to contribute primarily on special teams and play only a minor role in the defensive backfield in 2024.

  • Browns' D'Anthony Bell: Heads to PUP list

The Browns placed Bell (shin) on the active/PUP list Wednesday.

Despite Bell's placement on the active/PUP list, he's eligible to practice or play at any point this preseason. The 27-year-old appeared in 17 games in 2023, recording 28 total tackles and four passes defended, including two interceptions. Bell is expected to compete for another depth role in the Browns' secondary once he returns to full health.

  • Browns' D'Anthony Bell: Finishes 2023 strong

Bell recorded 28 tackles, four passes defensed, two interceptions and a forced fumble over 17 regular-season games in 2023.

Bell was mostly a special-teams contributor but needed more on the defense after Grant Delpit (groin) was unavailable from Week 15 on through the playoffs. Most of his production came in those final weeks of the regular season, as the Browns secured a postseason ticket. Entering his third NFL season, Bell's work on special teams is enough to earn him a spot in 2024, and his play while Delpit was out showed he's up to task on defense.

  • Browns' D'Anthony Bell: Snags first interception of career

Bell recorded five tackles (four solo) while intercepting a pass and deflecting another in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Bears.

Bell secured his first career interception as time expired in the fourth quarter, picking off a hail-Mary attempt by Justin Fields. The safety stepped into a larger role after Grant Delpit (groin) was placed on injured reserve earlier in the week, notching a season-high five tackles.

  • Browns' D'Anthony Bell: Returning against Tampa Bay

Bell (concussion) does not have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Bell was sidelined for Cleveland's Week 11 matchup against Buffalo with a concussion. However, he cleared the league's protocol and practiced in full Friday to clear his way for a return against Tampa Bay. In nine games this season, Bell has tallied five tackles while playing 137 of his 146 snaps on special teams.

  • Browns' D'Anthony Bell: Ruled out for Week 11

Bell (concussion) has been ruled out for the Browns' Week 11 matchup with the Bills, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.

Bell suffered a concussion in Week 10 versus the Dolphins and will be forced to miss at least one contest while recovering. He'll now shift his focus to being ready for Week 12 against the Buccaneers. Grant Delpit and John Johnson will remain the top options at safety for the Browns on Sunday.

  • Browns' D'Anthony Bell: Survives cutdown day

Bell secured a spot on the Browns' 53-man roster, Anthony Poisal of the Browns' official website reports.

With that news, Bell became the first undrafted rookie free agent to land a spot on the roster under Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry. Bell earned the designation by his play during preseason games. He forced two fumbles and had seven tackles. A product of Division II West Florida, Bell will serve in a depth capacity at safety.
