Jets' Jordan Travis: Opening season on NFI list
The Jets placed Travis (ankle) on the reserve/non-football injury list Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
The rookie quarterback out of Florida State suffered a gruesome ankle injury last November and remains without a firm timetable for return. This could end up being a redshirt season for Travis, who will miss at least the first four games of 2024 with his placement on the NFI list. Tyrod Taylor heads into the year as Aaron Rodgers' backup.

Jets' Jordan Travis: Far from returning
Head coach Robert Saleh told reporters Thursday that Travis (ankle) needs more time to recover and won't be ready for training camp, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Travis sustained a horrific ankle injury during his final season at Florida State, and it seems his recovery process is taking longer than the Jets originally anticipated. The 24-year-old landed on the active/non-football injury list one week ago, and it sounds like he will remain there for quite some time. New York agreed to terms with quarterback Ben Bryant while Travis continues to recover from his ankle issue.

Jets' Jordan Travis: Put on active/NFI list
Travis (ankle) was placed on the active/non-football injury list by the Jets on Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Travis can return to practice at any point since he was put on the list before training camp started. Once the rookie fifth-round selection returns to the field, he's slated to work behind veteran quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor.

Jets' Jordan Travis: Should be ready for training camp
Travis, who is bouncing back from an ankle injury that he suffered last November, should be cleared for training camp, per coach Robert Saleh, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
At this stage, Travis -- who the Jets took in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft -- continues to rebound from ankle surgery, with Cimini noting that the young QB was spotted riding a stationary bike during part of the practice that took place Friday at the start of the team's rookie minicamp. Early on in his pro career, Travis is slated to work behind the veteran duo of Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) and Tyrod Taylor, but when healthy, the Florida State product profiles as dual-threat signal-caller with intriguing playmaking ability for the Jets to develop.

Jets' Jordan Travis: Lands with Jets
The Jets selected Travis (leg) in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 171st overall.
If not for a severe leg injury suffered late in his senior year, Travis may have heard his name called much earlier than the end of the fifth. He was a dynamic, longtime starter at Florida State who progressed each season. He never threw more than six interceptions in any season and left Tallahassee with 65 passing touchdowns in 42 games. He had strong rushing ability that will perhaps return when he's recovered, rushing for 1,682 yards and 28 touchdowns. Tyrod Taylor gives the Jets immediate cover if Aaron Rodgers is to miss any time, but Travis projects as an eventual backup with little likelihood to become a starter.
