The Patriots waived Hastings on Friday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
The undrafted rookie wasn't very productive at Auburn, catching 19 of 41 targets for 222 yards and a touchdown in his senior season. His best opportunity to make a roster this year will likely be through special teams.

Patriots' Will Hastings: Sticking with Pats
Hasting re-signed with the Patriots on Monday, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports.
The undrafted rookie out of Auburn was signed by the Patriots in April but released on Sunday. The team subsequently found itself with some extra roster space, as a number of New England players are opting out of the 2020 season for health reasons. Hastings nonetheless figures to face an uphill battle toward earning a spot on the Week 1 squad.

Hastings signed as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn this offseason after accumulating just 222 receiving yards in 2019. He'll face an uphill battle to make a 53-man roster around the league.
