Commanders' Brandon Coleman: Will make return Week 9
Coleman (concussion) does not have an injury designation for Sunday's clash against the Giants, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Coleman suffered a concussion Week 7 versus Carolina and subsequently missed Week 8 versus the Bears. However, he was able to log a pair of full practices to end this week and will thus be able to suit up Sunday. Coleman's return comes at a good time, as Cornelius Lucas, who had been starting at left tackle, is out Sunday due to an ankle injury.

Commanders' Brandon Coleman: Able to practice Thursday
Coleman (concussion) was a full practice participant Thursday.
Coleman was diagnosed with a concussion in Week 7, which sidelined him for Week 8 against the Bears. He was a limited practice participant Wednesday, but his ability to practice in full Thursday indicates that Coleman is progressing through the league's concussion protocols. He still has some more steps to go through before getting clearance to play Sunday against the Giants.

Commanders' Brandon Coleman: Won't play vs. Bears
Coleman (concussion) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against Chicago.
Coleman was diagnosed with a concussion during the Commanders' Week 7 win over the Panthers. He was unable to practice all week while working through the league's concussion protocols, and that could put him in jeopardy of also missing the Commanders' Week 9 NFC East showdown against the Giants on Sunday, Nov. 3. Cornelius Lucas filled in at left tackle after Coleman's exit in Week 7, and the former figures to draw the start at that spot for Sunday's contest.

Commanders' Brandon Coleman: In concussion protocol
Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Monday that Coleman is in concussion protocol following Sunday's 40-7 win over the Panthers, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
The 2024 third-round pick out of TCU played just 15 offensive snaps before exiting Washington's blowout win due to a concussion. Coleman's participation in practice throughout the week will provide the best indication of whether he can return for the Commanders' Week 8 matchup against the Bears. However, Coleman must clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in order to suit up Sunday, regardless of his practice participation.

Coleman went to the locker room in the first half to be evaluated for a concussion. He was unable to clear the league's five-step protocols, and he will not return to Sunday's game as a result. Coleman's status for Week 8 against the Bears will depend on how he progresses through those protocols over the coming week. Cornelius Lucas will remain at left tackle for the rest of Sunday's contest.
