Tanner Brown: Loses roster spot
Brown was cut from the Rams' practice squad Tuesday.
Brown has been in and out of the Rams' organization since originally signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He'll now have to pursue other opportunities unless he ultimately ends up in Los Angeles again.

Tanner Brown: Joins team again
Brown signed with the Rams' practice squad Tuesday.
Brown has had multiple stints in Los Angeles, most recently spending training camp with the team before being waived in August. However, he's never kicked in an NFL regular-season game. That could change in Week 3 due to Joshua Karty dealing with a groin injury; however, the rookie kicker is expected to be fine for Sunday's game against the 49ers. If Karty were to suffer a setback, though, Brown would likely be elevated to handle the job.

Tanner Brown: Let go by Rams
The Rams waived Brown on Tuesday.
Brown didn't attempt a field goal in Sunday's preseason game against the Cowboys, while Joshua Karty made both of his field-goal attempts and converted his lone extra-point attempt. Should he clear waivers, Brown will look to catch onto a team in need of a kicker. He converted 22 of 23 field-goal attempts and converted all 42 of his extra-point attempts in his final collegiate season with Stanford in 2022.

Rams' Tanner Brown: Returning to L.A.
The Rams signed Brown to a reserve/future contract Thursday.
Brown was thought to be in line to serve as the Rams' Week 1 kicker, but he was let go after he made only four of his seven field-goal attempts in three preseason games. Los Angeles dealt with some kicking problems throughout the year (third-lowest conversion rate on field-goal attempts in the NFL), and Brown will likely have the opportunity to compete for the Rams' top kicker spot once again next season.

Tanner Brown: Cut by LAR
The Rams waived Brown on Tuesday.
An undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State, Brown went 2-for-4 on field-goal attempts during the preseason. The Rams will likely opt to sign a veteran in free agency, but Brown could be brought back on a practice-squad deal if he clears waivers.

Rams' Tanner Brown: Finishes 2-for-4 on FG's
Brown missed a 39-yard field-goal attempt during Saturday's 41-0 preseason loss to the Broncos.
Brown wasn't given many opportunities to show off his leg with the Rams offense stuck in neutral all night, and his lone field goal attempt sailed wide left. The rookie kicker missed half of his four field-goal attempts, and while he did make all four of his PATs, the pair of misses may be enough for the Rams to call on some veteran help after Tuesday's cutdown day.

Rams' Tanner Brown: Nails lone field goal
Brown connected on a 25-yard field-goal attempt and made both of his extra-point attempts during Saturday's 34-17 preseason loss to the Raiders.
While a chip shot field goal and two PATs aren't exactly world-moving in terms of Brown's hold on the starting kicker position, he also didn't hurt his cause, and the Rams didn't opt to bring in any outside kickers to compete after the rookie missed a 46-yard attempt last week. With just three weeks until the Rams' opening game against the Seahawks, it seems increasingly likely that the Rams will roll with Brown as their starter in lieu of bringing anyone in to vie for the role.

Rams' Tanner Brown: Misses 46-yard attempt in loss
Brown connected on one of two field-goal attempts and converted both of his extra-point attempts during the Rams' 34-17 preseason loss to the Chargers on Saturday.
A 46-yard field-goal attempt by Brown in the third quarter sailed wide left, while the rookie kicker nailed two PATs and a 39-yard field goal. The Rams haven't signed anyone to compete with Brown for the starting role after Christopher Dunn was waived, but with Brown's longest field goal in college clocking in at a mere 52 yards, any more struggles with accuracy on intermediate kicks could force the Rams to look for veteran help to challenge the rookie.

Rams' Tanner Brown: Wins starting role for now
Brown currently stands as the Rams' only kicker after Christopher Dunn was waived, Cameron DaSilva of TheRamsWire reports.
With Dunn being waived, Brown won the battle of the UDFA's looking to replace one of the most accurate and consistent kickers in the league in Matt Gay. This doesn't mean the job is necessarily Brown's as of yet, as the team may choose to bring in another kicker to compete for the job this summer. However, for now, Brown can be penciled in as the Rams' starting kicker.
