Javon Baker: Signing with San Francisco
The 49ers signed Baker to the practice squad Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
The 49ers will be the third practice squad Baker has visited this season after stops at both the Patriots and Eagles facilities. The wide receiver has yet to play in a game this season, but at 23 years old, he has a lot of potential as a depth wide receiver for what seems like a perennially banged-up 49ers offense.

Javon Baker: Cut from Philadelphia's PS
The Eagles cut Baker from the practice squad Tuesday.
The cut makes room on the Eagles' practice squad for running back Audric Estime. Baker joined Philadelphia on the practice squad in early September after being cut from New England's 53-man roster at the end of August. The 2024 fourth-rounder is just 23 years old, so he should receive interest from teams looking for depth at wide receiver.

Baker failed to make New England's 53-man roster in 2025 after a disappointing rookie season in which the 2024 fourth-round pick had just one catch. It would probably take an injury to one of the five healthy wide receivers on Philadelphia's 53-man roster for Baker to get a chance with the Eagles.

The Patriots are waiving Baker on Wednesday, Mark Daniels of MassLive.com reports.
Baker made New England's initial 53-man roster Tuesday, but he'll now be cut loose as the team frees up space for its waiver claims. The 2024 fourth-round pick seems a likely candidate to re-sign to the practice squad if he goes unclaimed on waivers. He played just 83 snaps on offense as a rookie and finished with one catch for 12 yards (on four targets) across 11 regular-season appearances.

Patriots' Javon Baker: Finishes without a catch
Baker finished without a catch on two targets in Thursday's 42-10 preseason loss to the Giants.
He was quiet during the preseason and didn't seem to make much noise at training camp, which puts Baker on the roster bubble one year after being a fourth-round pick. Injuries to other wide receivers help his case, but even that might not be enough to keep Baker around on the Week 1 roster.
