Rey Maualuga: Waived by Dolphins
Maualuga was waived by the Dolphins on Saturday following a late-night arrest Friday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
There are no details on the alleged incident, but it is serious enough to result in the Dolphins letting Maualuga go. He provided 14 tackles in his previous three games for the Dolphins, and also started four of the last six games. It remains to be seen how the defense will adjust, but Mike Hull figures to see a sizable increase in snaps at middle linebacker.

Maualuga will start at middle linebacker Sunday versus the Titans, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
Maualuga has been practicing with the first team all week and will start on first and second down but come out in passing situations. He's expected to see between 25-35 snaps, as the Dolphins may still be worried about his conditioning after just having signed him in late August.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Not on injury report
Maualuga (hamstring) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report and is in line to play Sunday against the Titans, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
Maualuga will be healthy for his first game of the season, and he'll be positioned behind Mike Hull (shoulder) on the depth chart. If Hull is unable to play Sunday, Maualuga could be slated for a high snap count, but he shouldn't be considered an IDP talent otherwise.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Questionable for Sunday
Maualuga (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints, Adam H. Beasley of The Miami Herald reports.
Maualuga was able to do an individual workout during Wednesday's practice, but it's unclear whether or not he'll be able to get back into game shape before Sunday. Consider the linebacker a game-time decision as he awaits to be cleared to make his Dolphins debut.

The Dolphins are still working to get Maualuga in game shape while he recovers from the hamstring injury. If the coaching staff is satisfied with Maualuga's level of activity in the final two days of practices this week, the linebacker could make his team debut Sunday against the Saints.

Maualuga (hamstring) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.
Maualuga did not practice this week and will not make his debut with the Dolphins on Sunday. Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Misses practice Wednesday
Maualuga (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
Maualuga has been a bit of a mess since the Dolphins signed him late in August. He was out of shape at first and now is dealing with a balky hamstring. The Dolphins lack depth at linebacker so even with the addition of Stephone Anthony via trade Tuesday, it does seem that his roster spot is safe, but his value to the team seems to lessen with each passing day.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Will sit Week 2
Maualuga (hamstring) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Sits out practice Wednesday
Maualuga is dealing with a hamstring injury and did not practice Wednesday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
The specifics of the injury are still unknown, but it's hardly a good sign for a player who was still working to get back into football shape. Maualuga signed with the Dolphins almost a month ago but still seems to be lagging behind in regards to his physical conditioning. It remains to be seen what type of role the veteran linebacker would have in Sunday's game against the Chargers, if he is even able to play.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Believes he is ready to play
Maualuga stated Tuesday that if Miami does play Tampa Bay this week that he will be ready to go, Chris Perkins of the Sun-Sentinel reports.
Maualuga was out of shape when signed by Miami after the season ending knee injury to Raekwon McMillan. Even if the Dolphins believe that Maualuga is ready to play, a big if, Mike Hull is still expected to start over him for at least the first few weeks of the season. Maualuga will have to prove to coach Adam Gase in practice that he is truly ready for game action before being active against Tampa Bay.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Could miss season opener
Maualuga may not be ready for the season opener, Jason Lieser of PalmBeachPost.com reports.
The team is concerned that Maualuga is not fit enough to play yet. While it's not ideal that he's not in great football shape right now, the team was certainly aware of this possibility when they brought him in last week. Given the current climate of his progression, Maualuga is unlikely to have any great fantasy impact this season.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Not in game shape
Maualuga needs to lose some weight before the Dolphins will allow him to practice or play in a game, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
Maualuga's weight currently sits somewhere north of 260 pounds, and the team wants him to get into the 250 range before they consider putting him on the field. Assuming a few conditioning practices does the trick, Maualuga is still expected to compete with Mike Hull for a starting linebacker job.

Dolphins' Rey Maualuga: Won't play Thursday
Maualuga won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Eagles, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
Maualuga first signed with the Dolphins two days ago and is still trying to familiarize himself with the playbook, so the team won't rush him into game action until he gets acclimated. Considering Mauauga's veteran status, a lack of playing time during preseason shouldn't have much of an adverse effect. With the Dolphins' already having lost two linebackers for the season, the team may feel it's best to play it safe and not risk the health of Maualuga until the games count in the standings.
