ST. LOUIS (AP) Joel Hofer made 34 saves and assisted on Jake Neighbours' goal at 2:04 of overtime in the St. Louis Blues' 1-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Thursday night.

Hofer had his second career shutout in his and the team’s second overtime victory of the season.

Philip Broberg carried the puck into the New York zone and made a centering pass to Neighbours for the winner.

Islanders goalie Ilya Sorkin made 29 saves.

Blues defenseman Nick Leddy sat out because of a lower-body injury, the first game he has missed this season. Leddy played in all 82 games last season.

Islanders: Have outshot their opponents in all four games this season.

Blues: Did not trail after having multiple-goal deficits in each of the first four games.

Hofer made a stick save on Jean-Gabriel Pageau’s wrist shot 20 seconds before Neighbours’ goal. Pavel Buchnevich took control of the puck and fed it back to Hofer to allow the Blues to complete a line change.

Broberg’s assist on Neighbours’ goal gave him a point in all five games to start the season. Broberg is the first defenseman in franchise history to have a point in each of his first five games with the team and only the third Blues defenseman to have a point in the first five games of the season.

Islanders: Host Montreal on Saturday night.

Blues: Host Carolina on Saturday night.
