Eastern Conference Quarterfinal Game 3

Rangers 1, Senators 0 (Recap, Box Score)

Rangers Lead Series 2-1

No.1 Star

Henrik Lundqvist: The Senators played a really strong game on Monday and controlled the play for extended periods of time throughout the night. But thanks to the stellar play of Lundqvist, they were never able to get on the scoreboard, wasting what was a nearly equally impressive performance by their own goalie, Craig Anderson.

Rangers forward Brian Boyle gets an honorable mention for scoring the only goal of the game. He was also able to get the ultimate revenge on the Senators for being on the receiving end of that Matt Carkner incident on Saturday that resulted in Carkner being suspended for Monday's game.

Just before Boyle scored midway through the third period the Senators had an extended shift in the Rangers zone with a number of scoring chances but came away empty handed. Just seconds later the Rangers went back up the ice and managed to get just one scoring chance ... and it ended up in the back of the net. The goal was huge, but the shift just before where Lundqvist kept Ottawa off the board was a game-changing moment.

A game that you could argue was simply stolen by Lundqvist. It's also the type of game you expect to see from a Vezina Trophy front runner. Especially in the playoffs and on the road.
