The Edmonton Oilers lost their captain in an apparent kidnapping perpetrated by supervillain Mysterio. As Andrew Ference was taken captive, the Edmonton Police called on the only person fit to save him, SpiderMable.
SpiderMable goes by the alterego of Mable Tooke. She is 6 years old that has fought far bigger battles than the one she waged with Mysterio. Tooke was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2013, but is nearing the end of her treatment with a good prognosis according to the Edmonton Journal.
According to the Journal, Mable passed the time during treatments by reading comic books, even some dating back to the 1960s. She told the Children’s Wish Foundation that she envisioned herself fighting crime like Spider-Man someday. Today was that day.

Mable was first alerted of Ference’s capture by a special newscast.
The mayor of Edmonton called SpiderMable into his office to send her on her mission with an official proclamation.

When the Oilers practiced, Ference wasn’t on the ice with his teammates. Fellow Oiler Jordan Eberle shared his hope that SpiderMable would save the day.

She even got a shout out from Canada's prime minister while on her quest:

Before SpiderMable could save Ference, she had to make a stop to help Black Cat escape the clutches of Mysterio at the Water Park. The 6-year-old showed no fear when it came to utilizing the zip-line.

Then she arrived at the zoo to a warm reception from fans hoping to catch a glimpse of their new hero before she found Ference.
All SpiderMable needed next was the final clue from Lucy the Elephant and she was on her way.

Up next, SpiderMable found some more clues around the zoo and visited with animals all while inching closer and closer to finding Ference. It looks like things were getting pretty dire for the Oilers captain before SpiderMable arrived.

After dispatching the villain, our hero untied the Oilers’ captain, freeing him to return to the team (but not before a nice long hug). Rookie Connor McDavid was there to thank Mable for saving his teammate.
