The Columbus Blue Jackets just got a little less tough.
On Tuesday the team announced that forward and resident tough guy Jared Boll is going to miss the next 3-4 months after having surgery to repair a torn tendon in his ankle. He had the surgery on Monday.
"Our initial hope was that Jared would be able to return to the lineup with rest and rehabilitation, but it became apparent over the past few days that surgery was the best course of action," Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen said. "We're disappointed for Jared as he has worked very hard and is an important part of our team, but we expect him to make a full recovery and hopefully return to the lineup later this season."
At the earliest, Boll would be looking at a return in Mid-March, in time to try and push the Jackets to the playoffs, if they are still in the picture at that point.Boll is known mostly for his fists and hits. Last season he was tied with the third most fights in the league with 12, just two behind league leader B.J. Crombeen.
He has played 21 games this season with one goal to his credit and 38 penaly minutes. He has been out of the lineup dating back to November 22.
