Los Angeles and Phoenix played one of the most entertaining games of the 2012 postseason on Tuesday night, and it ended with Kings forwards Dustin Penner scoring an overtime goal to clinch a spot in the Stanley Cup Final.

For the Kings, it's their second ever trip to the Final, and their first since 1993 when they lost to the Montreal Canadiens. And it took them just 14 games to get there, never needing more than five games in a single playoff series to this point.

It's been a pretty dominating run, and in the current NHL playoff format (going back to 1994) only three other teams went through their conference playoffs that quickly -- the 2008 Penguins, the 2003 Ducks, and the 1995 Red Wings. All of those teams went on to lose in the Stanley Cup Final, for whatever that's worth.

For as easy as the Kings have made it look at times, they've had to go through each of the top-three seeds in the Western Conference as the No. 8 seed, a team that barely that qualified for the playoffs.

Now they'll have a week off before their next game (a rest they're used to at this point, given the way the postseason has gone for them) and will await the winner of the New Jersey Devils-New York Rangers series, which is currently tied at two games apiece.

The Kings are guaranteed to open the series on the road.
