Brent Burns’ hair both on his head and face have given him a bit of a signature look. He's the NHL's very own sasquatch, wookie, werewolf, whatever you prefer. However, Friday, the San Jose Sharks forward shed the long locks, making good on a promise in an effort to raise money for charity.
Burns set a goal to raise $5,000 for two specific charities very close to his heart. The first is Defending the Blue Line, a group that helps keep the children of military families active in hockey, particularly when parents are deployed. The second is the Katie Moore Foundation, which honors the late wife of current New York Rangers forward Dominic Moore who died of a rare form of liver cancer.
Through Burnzie’s Buzz Cut for Charity, they raised over $10,000 as of Thursday. By Friday, the amount reached more than $23,000, nearly five times the stated goal. Pretty awesome.
So in the likely incapable hands of his teammates Jason Demers, Adam Burish and James Sheppard , Burns hair and beard came off Friday. Here’s how it all went down.

The first cut is always the toughest.

As with any head shaving, making it look absolutely ridiculous at some point should be a primary goal before finishing the job.

Always a nice touch to let the former sasquatch take that last step back into humanity.
