Henrik Lundqvist: Everything for the New York Rangers seems to begin and end with Henrik Lundqvist, so why should that be any different in a Game 7?
The Senators were flying at various times throughout the evening and swarming around the Rangers net, creating a ton of scoring chances but could only manage to get one shot past him. And that wasn't enough. As the final minutes ticked away and the Senators made their final push you almost got the sense that it was only a matter of time until they broke through, but Lundqvist was able to stand tall and make all the big saves he needed to make.
I don't know if it was the "turning point," but it had to be one of the biggest moments in the closing minutes. As the Senators were on a seemingly endless shift that had to last for nearly two full minutes, Milan Michalek had a wide open shot just inside the right faceoff circle and was denied by Lundqvist.
At that point the Rangers were pretty much just sitting back and praying as the Senators threw everything they had at New York net, but thanks to some brillaint play by Lundqvist and some desperation by the Rangers defenders, they were able to somehow preserve the lead and get the win.
Everything you want a Game 7 to be. Intense, fast-paced, exciting. Don't confuse low-scoring with boring, because even though this game featured just three goals, the excitement level was through the roof.
