Over the next few months the Stanley Cup is going to go places it has never gone before. Like the mound at Dodger Stadium.
With the Angels and Dodgers playing their I-5 interleague battle at the Ravine, the Kings brought the Cup by and were honored by both of the "Los Angeles" baseball teams. The Ducks should probably feel a little wronged by this.
The biggest benefit of doing something at Chavez Ravine? Vin Scully is going to provide the commentary. Oh glorious day!
Unfortunately, MLB hasn't caught up with the times and doesn't allow for most videos to be embedded, so click here instead.
That is just so classic Scully describing the history of the Stanley Cup to the viewers. He's earned a free pass from me to ignore the mistake of identifying Rob Scuderi as Dustin Brown. It's no exaggeration to say he's the best and makes everything better. But enough waxing poetic about the Dodgers legend.
While you're over at MLB.com, check out this video of the Kings and their Cup going to the Dodgers clubhouse. I send you to this video for no other reason than to see Dustin Penner's stupidly awesome handlebar mustache, the remains of his spectacularly full playoff beard. I think I might grow the beard out just so I can have that same 'stache, buy myself a Chopper and go join the Hell's Angels.
The whole scene was so cool I was even able to enjoy Kevin Westgarth's "Most Interesting Man in the World" joke about the Cup despite those feeling as old as zubaz to me.
He once stood on the mound at Dodger Stadium, just because he could. #theworldsmostinterestingStan twitter.com/KWesty19/statu…
