The most exciting play of the Washington Capitals 2-1 win on Wednesday night didn't even result in a goal. That actually seems kind of fitting given the way this series has been played.

Just a little over five minutes into the third period, Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin was hauled down to the ice on an odd-man rush, twirled around as if he was sitting on a sit' N spin, and nearly scored a goal from the seat of his pants.



So close. If that would have found its way past Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist it would have been on the short list of Ovechkin's greatest goals, and even though it didn't go in it's still worth watching.

This play didn't end up making an impact on the scoreboard, but Ovechkin did score his 30th career postseason goal just 88 seconds into the game to give the Capitals an early lead. Jason Chimera added what proved to be the game-winner to push the series to a seventh game on Saturday night in New York.
