Maple Leafs' Michal Neuvirth: Not feeling up to trip to Montreal
Neuvirth was not on the ice Monday and did not make the trip to Montreal, reports the Toronto Sun.
Neuvirth already missed time last week due to an undisclosed issue. All coach Mike Babcock would say post-practice Monday was, "Neuvy was not feeling up to it so he's not going today." The goaltender has a history of injuries, so this unknown problem looks to be muddying the picture for the Leafs' backup role. Michael Hutchinson may have the inside track but has been wobbly so far in the preseason (five goals on 34 shots).

Michal Neuvirth: Released from PTO
The Maple Leafs released Neuvirth from his professional tryout agreement Tuesday.
This news doesn't come as a surprise, as the oft-injured Neuvirth wasn't even able to get through Toronto's training camp without missing time due to an undisclosed issue, so there was no way that the Maple Leafs could trust him as their backup heading into the 2019-20 campaign. The 31-year-old will likely have to head overseas to continue his playing career.

Maple Leafs' Michal Neuvirth: Starting Saturday
Neuvirth (lower body) will start between the pipes in Saturday's preseason game against Buffalo, Mark Masters of TSN.ca reports.
Neuvirth is expected to play two periods before being relieved by his backup. The 31-year-old, who's attending Toronto's training camp on a PTO, is still considered a longshot to make the Maple Leafs' Opening Night roster.

Neuvirth dealt with a lower-body issue for much of the 2018-19 campaign, which is likely why the team is hesitant to sign him outright. The club does have both Michael Hutchinson and Garret Sparks as backup options for Frederik Andersen, but Neuvirth would provide a more veteran presence.

Flyers' Michal Neuvirth: Experiences injury-filled season
Neuvirth went 1-4-1 with a 4.27 GAA and .859 save percentage during seven appearances, including six starts, during the 2018-19 season.
The veteran netminder dealt with multiple injuries and as a result, he barely played this past season. Neuvirth didn't make his season debut until Oct. 27 because of offseason hip surgery, but then after that loss, he didn't play again for six weeks due to an undisclosed ailment. Over the next month, he appeared in six games and then ended up on IR by the middle of January. Neuvirth will be a free agent this summer and will probably be in search of a new home.

Neuvirth played most of Thursday's game against the Hurricanes, but it appears he didn't emerge from the game unscathed. The 30-year-old excelled in relief, but the problem has been consistency. He yielded six goals last Thursday, but the previous Sunday, Neuvirth was great in a 3-2 win. Neuvirth may have earned the next start with this performance, but he's going to have to string together several good starts in order to keep highly touted prospect Carter Hart on the bench. Neuvirth turned in his best performance of the season Sunday, making 32 saves in a 3-2 shootout win over New York.
Carter Hart remains the only goalie in Philly worth owning, though, on this night, the oft-injured Neuvirth was stellar, especially in the final frame where he turned aside 12 of 13 shots to keep the game tied and force overtime. Following five scoreless minutes, Neuvirth stopped all four shooters in the shootout, paving the way for the Flyers to win for the third time in four games. His record improves to 1-2-0 on the year with a 4.33 GAA and .833 save percentage.
