Avalanche's Nate Guenin: Heads back to Anaheim
Guenin signed a one-year, two-way contract Saturday in order to be reunited with the Ducks, Sportsnet reports.
According to NHL.com, this is the only signing the Ducks have made since free agency began Friday at noon, and it involves a fringe defenseman returning to Anaheim after making 15 appearances with the club in 2011-12.

Avalanche's Nate Guenin: Demoted to minors Thursday
Guenin was reassigned to AHL San Antonio on Thursday.
Guenin has eight years of service time in the NHL but hasn't done much of anything with it from an offensive standpoint, collecting 28 points in 205 career games. Of course, he's off the map in the fantasy realm but does give teams size on the blue line at 6-foot-3 and 207 pounds.

Guenin was placed on waivers by the Avalanche on Wednesday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
Guenin will look to restart his 2015-16 campaign elsewhere, failing to record a single point in 29 outings. Given his lack of offensive production, it is possible the 33-year-old will clear waivers, likely reporting to AHL San Antonio.

Guenin (head) will return to the lineup Thursday against the Blackhawks, Marc Moser of Altitude TV reports.
Guenin hasn't played since Dec. 21 because of the head injury, but it's quite possible he's served as a healthy scratch of late. He was a late addition to Thursday's lineup due to Tyson Barrie being scratched with an illness, so it appears whatever ailed him is now behind him.
